Every now and then you read an article and the words , “What the f…” sit on your lips like a soundless freeze frame. I don’t like Ken Livingstone. I don’t like him because he has been part of the Labour plot to flood the Capital with Social housing and immigration .The GLA was Prescott’s front in this, as well as enforcer and it is the centre of London`s new rotten City Hall culture . This is especially true of the “ethnic” communities with who he has a corrupt and mutually oleaginous relationship involving the dispersal of huge public funds . I did not ,however , see him as the libidinously soused Boss Hog of London even if his supporters behaved as if he were . I saw him as puritanically obsessed and catastrophically wrong .
I was therefore astonished to see Martin bright (a Brown attack puppy) claim that ken Livinsgstone was an out of control sot who cannot leave the sauce for ten consecutive seconds .That , at least ,was the sub text. He “ Needs a whiskey to get through Mayor’s questions “ ,. On receiving at People’s questions at Ilford Town hall he was deeply into the tumblers of whiskey ,( he claimed it was for medicinal purposes). This was at 10.00 AM !!!
Now you start casting your mind back this is not the first time his out of control benders have come to grief .

And then think of how the famous anti semitic accusations started

He was out of his box wasn’t he and then you start to wonder how much of the inexplicable Livingstone gobbledygook has a simple explanation . He was piefaced soaked squiffy sloshed and all round ‘pissed as a newt’ not just a maniac but a dispsomaniac , takwe my word for it , I am an expert in drunken gibber and that is it .
Its a sobering though.

Cash has been moved from the productive private sector to the useless public sector . There are 600,000 more of them and a grey army of ostensibly private parasites feeding of the rotting carcass. Our relative competitiveness has declined and we cannot act. With nothing in the Piggy bank but IOU`s and a slow down shedding momentum, tax receipts are plunging so tax cuts are not possible for the left. Neither is Keynesian kick starting .
Brown has presided over a 30% increase ( adjusted) in spending but is doctrinally opposed to choice in health or education . His Casaubonish plans have failed .15 year olds have fallen from 8th to 24th in maths , 7th to 17th in reading . This was a snip at £77billion up from £29billion , up 55 % after inflation has been corrected out . We have not even kept our talents
60% of people say Britain is a worse place to live than it was five years ago. This is largely due to the rise in crime hidden increasingly implausibly by the Police ( 12% say its better). The golden goose , London ,is ceasing to attract the world’s rich ,who no longer have an environment conducive to urban evening walks. Highly paid Policemen fill in forms all day and crime costs have been passed to the public in the form of ferocious security . This has been responsible for improvements except where it cannot help, ie violent street crime , the worst crime.

He has spread dependency encouraging the “Stand alone mother “.Mass worker immigration from the EU fiils the gaps . This single fact has brought to the attention of the British that they do not control their own country engendering hopelessness and disbelief . He cannot take the Wisconsin cure ( a time limit to benefits for the healthy ) because he is addicted to paid for votes and is now so loathed by the private sector working population he needs them like methodone.
Those who backed the new Labour Project have relapsed into maudlin denial. This managerially inclined upper middleclass now look sheepishly at their “inferiors . By their shallow egotistical displays of “social care” they have imperilled the poor more than anyone . They will chirrup their protestations to the last breath. Those about to suffer more than intellectual embarrassment are too tired and dispirited to care but they too bought the lie of “competence” .

There is a dangerous despair abroad which cannot afford .With the right pilot, the right ideas, and some calm determination, we may yet walk away from this , but I am less optimistic than many, about a smooth landing .

Boris Shows Sound Judgement.

The news that the ring leader of Garry Newlove’s killers, Adam Swellings, had only just been released from custody on bail dominates the Mail,and Sun today .It was hours later, that he ( and others ) kicked Mr Newlove to death. . Mrs Newlove`s remarks are magnificently focussed … .“The justice system does not do enough to protect decent hard working people." , she says , and ,“ Life should mean life, but the defendants would still be younger than her husband when they are released.”. ..
With 11 previous convictions, including assault, battery and restraining order breaches Swellings had been arrested a week earlier for punching a man who caught the gang damaging his car. How can the Police and the justice system have failed so utterly ? Well god forbid he should take responsibility but Brown`s hands are all over it .24 hour drinking , the creation of the no fault society and a justice system that cares nothing for the victim are his doing . Policemen never out of their cars ,a Home Office collapsed into tragic-comic inertia, and the maintenance of benefits slums are his campaign strategy.

Vote Clegg Get Brown

I have been exchanging views with Mr. Cicero`s songs , quite an erudite blog from a Liberal perspective but as partisan as Liberals usually are whilst holding their noses at the partisanship of others. In doing so I have synthesised some of my complaints about the Liberal Party( as Clegg now calls them). I find as we are all socially Liberal more or less the differences are stark only abroad especially on the EU. On domestic policy they are somewhat to the left old the Blairites in reality and cannot be taken seriously as Libertarian when they want to take all your money away and redistribute it to worthy causes of their own choosing. On Academies for example Blair started to try and introduce independence .Brown has dropped it but the Liberals would retain strategic Council control which is , as I say , left of Blair and a nothing Policy really . This shade of opinion is happily contained within the Labour party and to some extent in the Conservative Party so there is little to add. I have reorganised into answers to accusations although the context was different. I t cannot be said often enough , vote Clegg , get brown , Vote Clegg get Brown vote Clegg get Brown ....


Liberals are as patriotic as anyone :
Liberals do care less about the people of this country specifically which they would call “a “little Englander” attitude . The reason for this is that the Liberal party embraces , to a greater extent , ‘Liberalism’ which claims you derive values from your humanity. Thus it loves the hated human rights act , and the minimum wage and the thought of a world order in which Europe has a part (nightmare …See Ulrick Hech in the Guardian today) The English are usually communitarian , to put it simply , believing that values emanate from specific communities and that a country is like a club into which you pay in some sense .
This is why on the left and right there is great suspicion of immigration whereas Liberal think it is a simply wonderful thing and applaud the end of the ties and bonds that once were the nation This universalism even extends to animals who many Liberals appear to believe are people in little furry coats .
A communitarian attitude is far less prone to subscribing activities enshrined in a community halal butchery poses a problem for you , not us . Hunting you loathe we are indifferent. You ban it , we leave it whatever we think of the practice .

Liberals support the US and NATO:
You would not support the US in Iraq you would have dropped the alliance . Words mean nothing . You would have imperilled our defence and that is one reason above all you will always be a small party .You did not want to renew Trident either (listen to Huhne on that …and listen to him attacking Clegg). You cannot , in short , be trusted. This makes you very popular in some circles but they are fickle fashion voters. Your support for NATO is weak (you cannot have it both ways ) despite the fact that NATO has delivered peace while the EU cannot even sort out its own back yard.
This is the value of strong nation states acting intergovernmentaly . English lives will never be lost ‘only’ to save Poles they will be risked only for their countrymen. You see little difference between Watford and Warsaw , I do .You are concerned with bureaucracies not honour or loyalty. You applaud extreme localism like the Cornish so as to undermining this national loyalty but this is an illusion and the seeming of independence only.

The EU is a binary choice and a referendum to be real would only allow in or out . Ming s Position was therefore honest and Camerons is not :
You always say the EU can be reformed have you changed your mind then ? It cannot be by you certainly because you have no stomach for it and also because you are dishonest about you motives which are actually super national. You say the cost is huge but you have absolutely no idea if that is true . No it should move back to being a trade association of independent states as it was sold to the British in the first place . If that is not possible and the other way is towards “Ever close union “…then we are heading for a the completion of your project to outlaw the country and I would say even violence along the way from the vast majority who will rightly regard this as treason….All the more reason why we must have a referendum.

We are accused of being socialists as well as of being Conservatives:
You are not accused of being Conservatives only Socialists. Your problem is this , the ‘social’ Conservatism you talk about is in the past. Liberals had a role in the 20th century on gay rights and women’s rights and so on. Various views about tinkering with the result do not justify a Party . Individual Liberty you have relinquished to the Conservatives and you are bugger all use in defending smoking , pubs , hunting if helpful on ID . Even on Surveillance you are not much good . None of the trenchant criticism that emerges form our ranks does from yours . You are noticeably bossy locally . This lack of a role domestically is why such great prominence is given to the rest of the world where the focus of Liberal attention has drifted. That is why the EU is so central , Clegg is like an old Heathite Tory in many ways .

Liberals Do Not Exist To make Alliances We Have Principles
I do not say anything about your beliefs which are , in general , far less important than you seem to think. I only say you have a history of duplicity and deal making , ( it comes with the territory to be fair ) your membership will not have an alliance with the Conservatives so you will do a deal with Brown. There you will force PR and engineer so as to establish a thousand year Reich of the centre left such as has appeared elsewhere in Europe. Given the momentous possibility all those who are wavering and thinking of supporting the Liberals must be aware of the realities of their position In the absence of undertakings to the contrary it will be justifiably assumed to be where the shortest and only route to power . It is quite reasonable that this fact should be advertised.

We`ve Come For Your Organs

I am lolloping along belatedly behind the organ donation opiners . The point , should anyone have missed it , is that you will have to opt out of organ donation under Brown`s new plans and initial reaction of some of the right has to talk about the state nationalising your body . I think overall this is misguided.
Some 1000 people a year die is dreadful circumstances due to the lack of organs . 90% of the population favour organ donation and yet only 25% get round to carrying an organ donor card. So are we entitled to assume we can harvest their flesh after death ? . Polly Toynbee puts the figure into what appears a devastating context

“How many is 1,000 lives a year? Imagine if the government promised there would be no murders next year (755), plus no pedal cycle deaths (146); or no pedestrian deaths (675); or no motorbike deaths (599); or no deaths from falling down stairs (1,000). Imagine if the NHS could promise no deaths from cervical cancer (1,061) or from bone cancer (1,007). In that context, a government saving 1,000 lives a year with a stroke of a pen is an easy win. Then add in the 10,000 other very sick or blind people who will be helped”

By her logic , of course , we should ban running in the house if not walking on the pavement nonetheless I don’t deny the force of the argument. People are quite reasonably concerned that Doctors , used to making pragmatic decisions will be tempted to harvest organs with a little too much enthusiasm . Furthermore all those with a residual sense of the sacredness of the body will be horrified at the prospect of the organ harvesters attending the death bed like vultures not to say the habitual bureaucratic barbarism of the state in dealing with objections .

On balance though I support the idea . We cannot be endlessly responsible for other people’s indolence and if their feelings are strong then they should act ,as can their relatives after death. Suppose we denied organs to those who have not agreed to donate theirs? No-one would be so inhumane and yet there is a primitive justice. Given that using organs is the choice of 99.9% when they need them I think the safeguards are sufficient and the Conservative Party should back the proposal.

So....this is a first , I think I am saying Gordon brown has done a good thing....shudder.

Clegg , Brown`s Trojan Horse

I have been wondering , since Huhne got so close with his leftish agenda , just how Nick Clegg was going to lead his party. His speech attempted the tricky manoeuvre of trying to appear decisive when he is in no position to be anything of the sort “ Freedom choice ,diversity , he said , these are Liberal words lets take them back “.
Having said that he also said , “ The state must intervene to allocate money on a fair basis in our health and education systems “. this sounds faintly redistributive but chew on it and the texture is blancmange . Lo speaketh he more, in riddles “ We would never advocate change for the sake of it …” but he also says” but neither should we defenders of the status quo .” Does any one , and I mean anyone ,have the slightest idea what this means ?.
He attempts to say he is different to David Cameron..” They claim to care for poor people but their only spending commitment is a tax cut for the richest people in the country” This would be the tax cut so popular that Labour were obliged to rush out a copy and which persuaded the Liberal that they had to stop drifting further left even if no one did take them seriously . My concern is this , is the world getting too rich for freedom which requires periods of ill health to kill off the maggots . Are we heading for battery chicken status , not because of someone’s evil plan but because of the blind ability of laws to infest any excess health or wealth created . If the “Something must be done “ bleeding-heart Liberal hold the balance of power after the next GE , they may force PR and an endless left centre political class government in which my they and the theory will be tested to apocalypse , (or Sweden , if you will.)

Today was so beautiful I couldn’t be bothered with the world . We went for a walk on the Downs but over our preparatory porridge and yoghurt we looked at the local Paper. Our lovely English Town has a fizzy little journal which, like many of its type , is chiefly interesting for the letters column. This week , there was plentiful crop and I thought it might be nice ,in an admittedly twee way , to put one or two here as a flavour . This involves a heroic acts of typing on my part but in compensation , little thinking. The first is a exquisitely barbed put down of local busy bodies . Paul Leader of Framfield is still sticking it to the man with rare panache … ( and at his age :)

Being officially one of the elderly and vulnerable , I was alarmed to read the recent dire warning s from Diana Grice Director of Public health., …(etc.) Her advice to my ‘at risk’ sector is that when Winter sets in we crumblies should ‘heat the room’…’wear a good coat , hat, scarf and gloves’ …wear flat soled non slip shoes’ and eat and drink hot meals and drinks throughout the day .So , no more wandering around Tescos in my underpants then or throwing open my windows ant the first sign of frost, or supping ice cube soup.
This advice comes , of course, from the burgeoning Ministry Of The Bleeding Obvious and is an affront to anyone with an IQ higher than a pigeon’s. Genius .Peter Messer a local artist recently made the news by saying that newcomers were destroying the character of Lewes. This provoked a storm of debate and the letter I like best was this thoughtful effort by Kathleen Seymour . Along the way she gives a politely acidic description of the class and types of people that mingle in our English Eden to be cherished.….

Peter Messer is scathing about what he sees as the wrong kind of newcomers to the town. He is appalled by its gentrification , Lewes , he says, ‘is losing its identity ‘.
He may be a respected local painter but he`s not so hot on local history.. Lewes has changed and changed again throughout the centuries , from bustling prosperity to rural backwater and back. The arrival of the railways made it accessible and by the early 20th century both grand houses and ugly council estate s were being built on the town’s boundaries for newcomers, who began to outnumber the townsfolk, and then became the townsfolk. The arrival of Sussex University (and later Brighton University) staff from the 1960s onwards changed Lewes again . They favoured back street artisan’s houses , preferably two , three or more which they could knock together to form stylish ‘Town Houses’. Since then Lewes has taken in an arty crowd( including Mr. Messer), the vegan sandal wearing lentil eaters , and a substantial literati element .
The towns identity is further influenced by the huge numbers of people who come into Lewes each day to work in the Local Authority headquarters , the ambulance headquarters and the prison etc. This has been going on for lost of Mr. Messer’s life . Their presence contributes to the success of local businesses, thus benefiting those who live here; That they are also the cause of out traffic problems is also relevant to the nature of the town.
So what identity is Lewes losing Mr. Messer.? The Lewes you remember is not the older one I remember and mine is no the Lewes of the previous generation. My daughter’s Lewes is again different to your and mine

I`m afraid as I was already in this week`s , abusing Ms. Marple ( Norman Baker) , my effort was not included but I just love Kathleen Seymour’s style .

Try this on for wierd , I went to meet an old friend for a drink in what is my closest pub and the barmaid was one 'Angela Bruce '.

I`m not a great watcher of TV drama but I immediately recognised her " Umm... do I know you from somewhere I said " ...she said she was an actress and that was it . She was pretty slippy with providing lagers as well so seems a bit of a sort. Odd though she is still doing all sorts of things so I wonder why she does it , she is a strong performer actually and gave me a big beamy smile when we left. Do you think .........bet I could . You might know her from Angels or Red Dwarf

Meanwhile I have managed to gte my first letter in the local Paper. I am hoping to develop these themes of anti Norman Bakerlite.
Busy Mr. Baker may have all sorts of interesting ideas about the EU`s stipulations for waste,(Letter 1.4.08), but it will be news to many, that unelected foreign bureaucrats have any say on the vexed question of local incinerators at all. It will puzzle yet more, that an MP who advertises his concerns about transparency graft and local decision making, should blindly support an internationalist project awash with waste, and contemptuous both of our country and democratic accountability, as his Party does.

Contradictions abound. His much mocked parallel career in investigative journalism has earned our MP the reputation of being Lewes`s Miss Marple, but as a member of the left wing Beveridge group he supports exactly the dinosaur sized state which makes the abuse of taxpayers money he reveals ,inevitable .Furthermore, confusing our friendship with the US with handing over our country’s right to decide anything at all ,as he did, strikes me as ..what was the word he used about UKIP ..“unhinged”.

There may be a place for such picturesque “radicalism”, animal rights obsession and bizarre conspiracy theories. A sixth form debating society in about 1979 would be my suggestion but others, no doubt , find his eccentricities more appealing .Perhaps they would bear in mind that the best way to ensure we continue to be bullied by the most authoritarian regime since the war is to vote for Norman Baker."

Auntie Flo has been busy telling me over the last few months what a disaster the Heathrow expansion was and I have been , mildly, suspicious of a hidden green agenda . I was impressed to see her points vindicated by Iain Martin in the DT today. It is the sheer incompetence of the development he rails against.. The CBI are against it , the airlines say it is in the wrong place . It takes up land needed for houses, if anything, or space if not , and it effects the lives of millions of Londoners with noise . Finally it poses a massive security problem as so many planes will now fly right over London.
The right thing to do would be what they did in Hong Kong .Build an artificial Island in the Estuary. This and the complementary rail links were built in six years for $20, billion but this is the bit that impresses me ....That is the same cost as cross rail.
Looking at the our blithering ineptitude with prestige projects I have been chatting and checking with others on the disaster that is Wembley. Have a look at the comparisons below and then tell me why it is not a national scandal. Getting it wrong , as we obviously have with Heathrow is far more costly .As for the Olympics, the fact that Ken signed a blank cheque for Londoners is something Boris might well wish to mention . The received wisdom is that you can blow of the froth and underneath its the economy stupid, I `m not so sure .The perception people have of the economy is a very different thing to the reality .Most people are little better off than ten years ago but the endless repetition of 'growth', and the memory of the preceding and utterly different periods prior to the late 80s still ensure relative calm is something small c Conservatives value. Niall Ferguson’s` Cash Nexus demolishes any easy linkage between good times and votes in reality.

Surely they use sophisticated methods now though you say...They do , but they can only look back to test them. Immigration stats are based on interviewing one man and his dog and asking ‘what he reckons’. If the Conservatives had the same lead over Labour as Labour did over the Conservatives, Labour would still have had 57 more seats. Only a Conservative lead of 6.4% would have resulted in equality of seats and the Conservatives would have required a lead of 11.8% before gaining an overall majority."

A Higher group seek cultural and political power may seek to exploit the compulsory paid for vote to predate on the middling especially those at the margins.Its buying power with other people’s money .
Conclusion
You might say majoritarianism provides some balance to the natural imbalance caused by non-contributors having an equal vote in a mixed democracy.. When allied to the “political class “ bias mentioned above , it is an authoritarian system to be loathed and feared by Conservatives . Look at things in this way and you will see that the gulf between the elite of the left ad the labour voter (35% of which say the BNP is the second choice) , is so large and quite different the spectrum of Conservatives. That dishonest alliance would be ‘politics’ under PR

One of the things that strikes you about the political scene at the moment is the sheer unimpressive ness of the Labour rabble .I know it sounds like the usual partisan guff but I am serious,for once . Don’t tell anyone but I am really not all that impressed with the latest Hain funding scandal, it looks to me more like cock up than conspiracy, but cock ups are in many ways worse than cupdity. If he can`t run his campaign......

Looking that the forthcoming and exciting Hull ,“primary” for fat man Prezza`s seat, you can see why that should be. The candidates for this lifetime sinecure include ,as reported , Prezzas corrupt son David , Karl Turner , and other weighty players . I had no idea thought that ,of the shortlist of six, that must be chosen by the end of February ,three must be women and one must be from an ethnic minority. All the white males are left with two chairs when the music stops .
This improves the chances of George McNamara , nephew of former Hull North MP Kevin McNamara .He can claim Asian ancestry you see. It makes Della Georgeson a cert. What with the quotas and the incestuous nature Labour its amazing they are not even worse than they are and they are already a pitiful collection.

The Conservative Party have rather different problems .There is the climate of personal sanctity required by the PC mob which scares any personality away . More seriously perhaps ,since the post Major, Nolan clear out , interpretations of outside interest , have become witch hunts. and able people with complex commitments are unwilling to be subjected to the disruption to their personal lives and business. We are left with the smooth professionals and all the remote inadequacy that entails. Just as the Standards board have done locally, we are well on our way to ruling out anyone who actually knows anything about anything.
I think it is dangerous to give so much power no expression in parliament anyway . We cannot return to he 19th century conception of representing “interests” but a children’s play with toy people is no replacement for government either.

Why Can't Women Make Their Minds Up ?

What do women want ? As a man this is a question you spend your life not working this out. You follow clues , you take them literally and then metaphorically, but the shy fawn , “what she wants “, skits away in the dappled shadows of the wood . And then ..and then; there is that terrible suspicion that should you ever locate the mercurial creature it will metamorphosise in your hands into a gorgeously plumed bird, and fly off as you stare hopelessly at a receding speck against the sun. ..where was I ..oh yes....

Women not only cannot decide, but they seems to want impossible combinations of rewards . Men, who can lick their own eyebrows are likely to remain popular then . But seriously ,consider the evidence.

Women still overwhelmingly want to get married. In 2005 only 12 out of every 1000 singletons tied the knot . A record low ,and yet 75% of co-habiting people say that they want the rice and cake .Then why don`t they do it ? I `ll tell you why not . Women.

OK I have no evidence but men in these matters grunt with the looming sexuality of a young Marlon Brando and go along . Its the women who can’t decide. Children now ,career later , IVF soon , more career, ,thawing out an embryo from the arctic perma-frost embryo at 60, its endless . There are now more first time mothers between 34 and 34 than between25 and 29. Men wait disconsolately outside the bathroom of life, for them to make their minds up.

Today the fatherhood institute says that fathers feel their role is undervalued .75% of men feel the mother`s role with a child is valued more than theirs. About the same proportion of women way that the father is equally good with the children . They “say” that . I say they speak with forked tongue, and in practice the courts don’t give the notion the time of day. You see what this is about don’t you , ask women if men should do as much house work, and they say yes . Ask them, seriously, if the father should have the children and the house, and they say ,“mais non monsieur “, its confuses us terribly .

Women insist they are better at multi tasking and nurturing than men . They will not admit that men are sometimes better at strategy and problem solving . They smashed glass ceilings in the eighties and then decided that they did not want to be Shirley Conran`s Super Woman any more. It may just be me but I am rather partial to an older woman but she has to have some style for gods sake . That’s what ages gives you !

Women are also highly averse to marrying beneath themselves in earning potential or IQ .They increasingly dominate Universities but cannot see that as they go up some men must come down , and they will have to do. It is a gloomy fact that 40% of female graduates born in 1970 are likely to enter their 40s childless . Furthermore women want men clever than them or at least on a par. A recent study( Quoted by Boris ) showed that if a man’s IQ rises by 16 his mating chances improve 35%. If a women’s does her chances of getting hitched decline by the same amount.

So here’s your problem women. You are out performing men educationally , increasingly flexible hours for men and are around the corner so you can have you man do the dusting and watch Eastenders and bring up baby,. You out drink men you can have as much sex as you like , then you can come home and beat him at chess. You should be happy but you are not ….. As alternative comedians say, “Huh?” “What’s all that about ? “ With the most important election in a generation soon to be upon us and the most influential constituency being women let us hope Mr. Cameron is able to understand them . I don’t and it sometimes seems to me …nor do they.

Clarkson, Arse or Phoney ? You Decide

I have always doubted that Jeremy Clarkson was what he claimed to be . Apparently he recycles his rubbish ( read his boooks ) and was bullied at school .I am certain he is not a Conservative but instead is in bed with the men in beards of the Liberal camp . Oh no scratch that perfectly politically incorrect exterior and you have a fat man`s Esther Ranthzen not a PJ O Rourke . So I am pleased to see him looking like an arse

Another Letter Another Rejection

As Hatfield Girl noticed, the Sussex Express ran a headline this week in which a local artists claimed that poncy Londoners were destroying the Town`s identity. I deliberately misunderstood him, slightly and wrote in as below. He said he would not take a commission to paint someone`s cat as it would compromise his integrity by the way, which crops up.This is largely old ground so do feel free to move along .

"The Newman(ia) family arrived, just in time to see the fireworks, so I assume we are amongst those accused of rotting the town’s fabric by Peter Messer. For us that would entirely defeat the point of coming here from London.

When I used to walk to the Tube in Islington, I passed five recent murder sites and the “radical” Finsbury Park Mosque, where a cache of arms was found . Crime was unrelenting ,no one met your eye, and the fear of a knives and guns was omnipresent . The nearby Andover estate was featured on television as an exemplar of a social wasteland .Across Islington 50% were in social housing 70% of whom claimed benefits with results that could fill a year’s Daily Mail editorials.

In many Boroughs of London over 50 % of the school children speak English, at best, as a second language, and in some, like Tower Hamlets, the proportion is 75%. The rate of change is such, that births to mothers born outside the UK are up to 74% in the Borough of Newham, with ten Boroughs above 50%.

There was no community, for all the disingenuous Liberal Council blithered on about it. There were rich people who sent their children to private school ,and welfare dependents whose children attended ‘pre - prison‘. Low to middling folk, who need to use state education, had no choice but to leave. Misguided welfare and housing policies were part of the problem. Deluded multiculturalism ,supported by people whose kids would not attend schools failing to cope with eight languages, was another .

So, I suspect we value the social coherence and continuity of Lewes as much as anyone and the first thing I did was to join the local Conservative party who I see as defending exactly that.
I would like to stress that new people and change at a sustainable rate, are to be welcomed as we have been here. Without immigration there would be no Newman family ,we are mixed race, and who knows , perhaps Mr. Messer may end up taking commissions, after all ,we have two lovely cats …."
