The Left and Eugenics

A blogger I enjoy greatly is that brainy swot Tim Worstall .He is something of a Libertarian as I understand it but also a member of UKIP ?( I think), an intriguing if unlikely serving suggestion .Today he touched on Left wing enthusiasm for eugenics, in the context of this terrifying tale of Social worker fascism .This is what I had to say.....
The character of interest in Eugenics in Britain certainly has a left wing slant .There can be few more influential reports than the Beveridge report for example
Years earlier Beveridge had written a paper called "The Problem of the Unemployed," with a solution. Men who can't take their place in industry should be recognized as unemployable, and should be maintained as "the acknowl-edged dependents of the State." But the price for government support was "complete and permanent loss of all citizen rights including not only the franchise but civil freedom and fatherhood."

This was no longer explicit by the time of the time of the report but it does give a glimpse at the arrogant cast of mind required for the ordering of people according to scientific nostrums . It was all very modern once the consideration of population shows that the old assumptions about the rights of elites were still present
The enthusiasm of the Fabian society for eugenics is well documented and they were highly influential in real Policy that had a decided effect in Australia .
Marxism remember pretended to be a scientific view of society and believing themselves scientific and modern , the left have always been much more gripped by the scientific orthodoxies of the time . Eugenic thought was one such orthodoxy , Environmentalism is a contemporary example . Left wing Political intellectuals have also always been against spiritual or religious understanding of man and his conditions believing them to be tricks ( Here they are often in direct conflict with left wing voters ) . This is why abortion for them is an easy matter , the foetus , after all , is incapable of life alone , or rational thought , why not kill it , and then why not kill some more inconvenient people or their unborn children ,its so rational. so scientific .

Of one thing we can be sure , ( because Polly Toynbee told us ) The Nordic Socilaists could not possibly have introduced sterilisation as actual policy could they .... could they ?

Me me me

I have little tome to opine week but I have been about the blogasphere dispensing wisdom to lefties of various kidneys .Hopi Sen has been my favourite blog for while , whilst doctrinally diabolical he is a terrific commentator . This is his latest niggle at Cameron over Europe ... all good fun
This is what I had to say

.When Cameron promised a referendum on the Treaty it was in the expectation of Brown calling an election. It was in other words ; real. He deserves credit for this and only the left are pretending it meant more .Taken together with leaving the Federalist group ( and thereby eliciting gratifying squeals from the Guardian sorority ) he is by far the most Euro sceptic PM in waiting we have ever had . This poses a challenge to Labour internationalism as does the rise of the BNP and the growing anger about immigration the loathing of multiculturalism and much more .Your “Its all a game of media chess” shtick is hopelessly out of touch . You have become the anti British party of Britain and that’s a seriously tough gig

Take that !

Unhand Me Sir !!!

Cameron will not hold a referendum on the Lisbon Constitution if it is ratified .As a chap who would prefer we sidled to the exit dishing out apologetic gurns to our hostess I say , of course and good .
..The enemies of Britain always ask the question after the fact . Heath took us into the Common Market on the basis of an electoral mandate .Some mandate ! Heaths manifesto was , “ to negotiate no more no less” , not to join whatever the cost , his true intention. The Common market played no part in the campaign and 62 % of Conservative MP`s made no reference to it at all . There is no conceivable reading of the activities of the villainous bachelor than that he intended far reaching economic and political union . His pants in short , were on fire .
The subsequent ‘Common Market Referendum’ all about economic insecurity and vitally we were voting on leaving not joining.Roy Hattersley admitted ....
... ..“We’ve paid a price for it (lying about the true destination) ever since , because every time there has been a crisis in Europe people say , with some justification ,well we would not have been part of it had we known the implications “.
So since the 70s the country has been like a blushing virgin in the company of moustache twirling predator whose plan is to lure her up the mountain, ravage her, and claim that by accompanying him she had asked for it , the saucy minx . At each stage the path ahead is easy , the she is climbing at all is vehemently denied . Her shy suggestion that they ought to turn around is met with weedling ,lying and false promises , implied threats ( go it alone then ... hussy) , but when she finally stamps her little foot ,the lascivious scoundrel plays one last card ...
“Oh I see well is that the way of it Missy well if you must go down , there is a cliff feel free to throw yourself off it , I have quite lost the path by which we got here
Any referendum on Lisbon when it has become Euro diktat can only be a referendum on membership. That would be accepting that the only way out is via the cliff route and natural conservatism would not allow it . Many people have jobs depending on Euro law , I do , we have been in now for a long time and the disruption would be catastrophic .
So I say we take the same path down we came up and , slowly over a ten year period of Eurosceptic Government bagging so many exemptions and special considerations s it may be hardly worth leaving. We may yet descend from Mount Super State intact but the best way down is the path.

The Scarlet Temptruss ...(geddit )

My thought son the whorish Ms.. Truss and her life of carnal immorality are this . Should Ms. Truss wish to avoid the particularities of the messy Gothic structure that is the Conservative Party with all its maddeningly irrational and various views then I recommend the uniformity of the Labour Party . Better still the Liberal party where if you have not destroyed at least one family you are considered dangerously puritanical .

Its hard cheese but that’s localism for you and if I have to do without a dull little parrot then I feel with time and therapy the wound will heal.

Sex and Drugs

Johnson justified the reclassification of Cannabis on the basis of scientific evidence , he said . In fact the scientific evidence said the reverse so Johnson lied as well as turning the advisory body from scientists , which what they thought they were , into New Labour props for the daily game of media strategy . His distinctions between political descisions and scientific advice is answering a question no-one is asking .

Can you think of another occasion in which facts have been sexed up used for political ends but served as facts when those providing them knew differently ?

A Compromise

Noticed that Stephen Fry chucked in twitter because someone said he was boring , o m g . You may recall that when he discovered his thespian abilities stretched no further than Panto he had a similar peevish moment flouncing off to France with nary a “Chase me “
NowI love the gays I really do but this is clearly not the behaviour of anyone who should be allowed into the army , or indeed allowed to use power tools ,or miss their nap .
I accept that we cannot and must not discriminate against gays , but what about screaming nancies ? Surely they ought to be restricted to creative jobs like soft furnishing design Minister for culture and presenting day time telly , acting ..that sort of thing ?

Look at Alan Duncan hmmmmm ?

We Can`t All Paint The Cave

Yes alright I am slithering back into the despicable practice of bloggery once again . I thought I would adopt a new low key approach, releasing my words of wisdom like doves into a vacuum , for them to crash to the floor in a confused tangle of dead doves. I mean if no-one noticed I do not care , should never have started the doves thing .. trot on trot on Newmania
My peep `oles were drawn to a little bit in the Guardian last week which bemoaned the fact of yoof unemployment . Seen a slew of this recently and I `d guess most of it is pre written . Unemployment is a lagging indicator (often used for lofts ) so they have had time .
The words “Ticking time bomb’” cannot be far away , in fact they are exactly ten minutes away , 9-59 ...eeek 9.58 ...run for your lives ..9.57...... ha ha . Ok anyway yoof unemployment is a very bad thing * serious face* could be worse though , could be me ! Point coming , promise ....
Did you know that the Public Sector employs 52% of Uni leavers , (said Civitas ) and up to 290,000 jobs are likely to be lost from the client state by 2014 and that this will effect young pepes . I am shocked, but not, I suspect ,for the right reason
What truly shocks me though is that 52% of our finest lazy beer swilling graduates are going into the relativity small Public Sector , its about 6,000,000 strong .This has to be nutty with extra topping doesn’t it ?
Think of it this way we are a tribe and we live by slaying the woolly mammoth. Naturally the most prestigious thing to be ,ought to be ,a woolly mammoth slayer , .That ought to ensure the cave babes came a-calling you would ,think .Now we all know that “our wonderful” cave painters , teachers and poultice makers are “wonderful” , but that is surely for the palsied lame and female ?
To actually siphon off the best hunters for cave painting is crazy stuff and yet that is that is what we are doing. This all adds to my growing suspicion that we live in a society in which there is more personnel than person and that we are all irrevocably doomed .
