Inheritance Tax - We Should Keep It

Redwood ... spent four lines in his report Freeing Britain to Compete, arguing the case for abolitionof "Inheritance tax "
...(IHT) is not a popular tax. This has become even more true as the swift rise of house prices in much of the country has resulted in many people, who could not in any sense be described as rich, suddenly finding that their family will be liable to pay quite substantial amounts upon their estate. We recommend the abolition of inheritance tax." Some time ago Nick Drew forecast that Brown would do it as it is a small revenue tax but a high profile injustice

FACTS
1)600,000 people die each year and of those
2)370,000 could be liable for IHT because they don't have a spouse
3)The IHT threshold is £300,000, then an estate pays 40%
4)In the last year 37,000 people paid £3.5bn into the exchequer.
5)3% paying ten years ago has become 10%

The IHT bottleneck like so much , is a symptom of house prices . Still , so have taxes and working hours per couple and only house prices have reconciled the independent to the socialist state that has settled around them. People work in the hope their children will have a better chance and this basic prudence is hated by the levellers who want all the middling to re-start at zero at each generation. Personally I can see the argument from both sides but in the context of all the other attacks on low level aspiration and Liberty it has to go . The rich can sign away fourteen of their fifteen million . It’s harder for someone to give up the security of their house of £300,000. I do not think it should be abandoned entirely though there are many taxes that are less justifiable and better hidden and the case for opportunities being open to all is a Conservative one especially the opportunity to own property. With proper linking it was a good thing and I would like to see it retained

Helen Boaden BBC Liar Incarnate

. Helen Boaden has apologised for the use of the fourteen year old Redwood blooper which marks an acknowledgement of the way the BBC is going astray. Its as far as she can go. The difficulty with the BBC is that for them to even admit there is another point of view immediately raise the question of the jobs of the incumbents, A small admission is terrifying . Helen Boaden is a centre Left leaning media professional , virtually everyone else in the BBC is the same .They expect us to trust them when their jobs depend on stopping the Conservatives forming an administration.. They know this is not going to happen and now they are squarely behind Brown.

There was always special duty of impartiality but sheer size makes it more sensitive now . Prior to the 60s there was a broad area of agreement in the country on such things as the monarchy and the countries institutions which was a fair common ground. After the so called satire boom of the 60s the BBC turned on the other institutions, attacking parliament especially to its own advantage. Using its dual role to inform and entertain to promote a particular left progressive agenda as the old consensus broke down . After the shift into editorialising during the Birt period this practice has become malignant .

The agenda is , Pro Europe , anti monarchy , anti religion , anti N Ireland Protestants , anti America and Israel ,anti nationalist anti Conservative Party .Using free tax funding they have ruthlessly poisoned the ground for private media trailing its own programmes for free , for example, and starting such vanity projects as BBC seven and BBC four which does what BBC two was supposed to do. These ridiculous ideas show how confused the rationale of the BBC has become. The need for viewers is driven by justifying a Poll tax but popularity itself makes the Poll tax redundant. In news they can only become polemicists in the left direction. They want to be the Independent but dare not admit it . That is the conflict at the heart of the BBC and it is mirrored in the absurdity of public grants for Big Brother level entertainment .
Having so much power the BBC has turned into a self replicating Cancer willing to defend its swollen budget and dominance to the death.

Through the Glass Darkly:

The Victorians loved Topsy Turvy( Gilbert and Sullivan ) and backwards thinking ( Through the Looking glass ) and looking at the fare on offer for the next elected prime minister they would havefound our misconceptions chortlesome if not " Good Enough For Punch"

David Cameron is supposed to be an image obsessed cynical operator who would do anything to get elected. How so ? He came to the Conservative Party with little hope of such early elevation with a plan for modernising . He was not an insider or a shoo in he was a principled outsider and the Conservative Party were desperate. He is the first Conservative Leader since Thatcher to see that change could not just be cosmetic. Labour call him policy-light but if it fools the Public it does not fool the Party . They know policies can be misrepresented and shelved what cannot change is the commitment you give to the public on the direction you want to take . Cameron has been clear . He wants an engagement with education without the baggage of Grammar schools, he wants Europe not off , but part of the agenda, he wants taxes not off but down the agenda , NHS up Community up Family up Social cohesion up , Immigration monitored , Environment up .Now we have heard Iain Duncan Smith’s Study and the trailed Redwood Business Competitiveness review , we have a clear picture of the balanced Cameron vision for business and life . Not everyone will like everything but you cannot claim he has sailed under false flag .

Now let us dive from the light into the obsidian murk of the “Honest Public Servant WYSIWYG Gordon Brown. Hardly. He was part of the spinathon and it continues. The Conservatives propose a Border Police, he re-badges a few agencies and pretends he has done it . People want change and he “Announces” £37 billion spending spree mostly recounted and reheated Blair things. Immigration is running at four times the levels of the 90s , he says he`ll chuck out 4000 foreign criminals ..(which actually he can`t). From his dismantling of the Academies programme ( despite public endorsement ) we who watch might guess what he is up to but thus far few others have . On Europe ...well he`s just lying isn`t he . But people say ..yes but the economy.....

Well the economy does not look to hot today. Five years of the fifteen years growth were under Major and nothing has changed since. The one thing that ‘everyone agrees on’ is that the independent Bank of England was a good idea. I doubt it made a lot of difference myself , but in any case it was already agreed as part of the Maastricht deal quietly behind the scenes prior to Gordon Brown . Its Topsy Turvy Gordon Brown who is the slippery one. Nothing he does is what it seems from tax cuts ( cough cough) onwards .

In the BBC`s head Brown having his photo taken in wellies turned back the floods like Moses at the Red Sea but everyone else wants honesty hope and a real change .David Cameron can give us that if we can just stop looking “ Through The Looking Glass”

They Fear Boris

If there was ever any doubt who has to be the conservative Candidate there can be none after this ....Look how scared they are

Labour supporters are attempting to block Boris Johnson's bid to be selected as the Tory candidate to challenge London mayor Ken Livingstone.
Two websites are trying to hijack the Tories' open primaries which give all Londoners - not just Tory voters - a say in choosing their candidate.
The Conservatives insist safeguards are in place to prevent the primaries being scuppered by their political opponents.
....Mr Johnson, who quit his post as the Tories' higher education spokesman to enter the race, has received the lion's share of press coverage and is hot favourite to win the Tory nomination at the bookmakers

BBC Web Site

Islington London`s Caution Capital !

What are they playing at? I would be delighted if any of the failing Police Force in Islington would like to explain to me the following that has just been extracted under the freedom of information act .These are edited highlights of the list of crimes that have been cautioned only.

67 Class A Drugs Offences
7 Counts of Class A Possession with intent to supply
2 Assaults on a police Officer
13 Possession of offensive weapons including 4 blades
15 Assaults
5 GBH
Sexual assault
Buglary

All just cautioned

.For me this throws into sharp relief the problem of having a Police force unaccountable expect circuitously via the Home Secretary. I am told that the Council are routinely fobbed off with ease as the Police have all the information and all they have are anecdotes .There are no real powers to do anything about there failings anyway . With the Press full of the murder of Gary New love we know that these crimes can lead onto even more serious ones, but they are hardly low level. We already know the Police do not bother with bike theft, vandalism and anti social behaviour in general but possession of Class A drugs routinely cautioned ! Are they mad? What, I wonder Gordon Brown , is the point of reclassifying cannabis if no-one gets prosecuted anyway.

With calls to raise the legal drinking age to 21 and ban drinking on the street echoing around the country’s Police forces today, I am beginning to wonder if they privately know they have lost control of the streets. No wonder children feel they need the protection a gang provides.

What your license fee is paying for.

'Chernobyl 'Not A Wildlife Haven'' - From the BBC website. No shit, and what’s that? Pope Catholic? Bear shits in......etc. I am still sulking because it s been over twenty years and still no fucking super-heros. Jeez what is the point of radiation if it doesn`t give you X ray vision or super strength. Unless the supernatural ability to have your kidneys collapse counts its been a wash out.

Rumours Of Her Death....

Ever been embarrassed by your parents , well it could be worse....

"A Romanian man has been sacked after his mother visited him at work - minutes after he told his boss she had just died. Florin Radu Hretu, 27, from Pascani in Iasi county, had just asked to borrow some money to pay for her funeral. He has given the equivalent of £150 but had to immediately pay it back when his mother turned up a few minutes later. He was also fired and is also being investigated by police for fraud' - Ananova.

Wouldn’t you just die !

( Newmania scours the world for humorous synchronicity )

Hope She Used The Guardian....

'A Chinese woman has told how robbers snatched a parcel of dog poo wrapped in newspaper out of her hand outside a bank. Mrs Chen, of Laohekou city, was waiting in the bank to withdraw money when nature suddenly called for her dog. "While I was waiting in the queue, my dog had to poo. So I asked for several pieces of newspaper to wrap the poo," she said. After wrapping it, Chen left the bank, and was waiting to cross the street to throw the parcel into a rubbish bin when the robber struck. "A motorcycle stopped swiftly before me, the man on the rear seat seized the package from me, and they sped away," she said. Police are investigating the case' -

Re-animated Dodos

And there off ! The long wind up to the independence referendum has started with the SNP`s white Paper. The white paper outlines three options:-

1. Stick with the current devolved settlement
2. Enhance devolution by extending the powers of the Scottish Parliament in specific areas
3. Full independence
Scottish Conservatives rejected a referendum on these options out of hand and I have been thinking about the increasing absurdity of their position.
Sadly the Conservative Party in Scotland is down to irreducible core and it is wedded to the Union in a way that the rest of the Conservative Party is not. It is not English Conservatives that have changed other than with time. It is the Scottish Conservative Party that is now utterly unrepresentative of main stream Conservative thought .This is why they embarrass themselves and us by allying with Labour to further gerrymander against the interests of the English. Brown has signalled that he is once again going to devolve further powers to Scotland. He can do this under existing legislation and without ever having to go near the “constitution” a trick he is becoming alarmingly good at..hmmmmm? There will be no question of the English being consulted, they will merely be further discriminated against.

Scottish Conservatives represent no-one but a fossilised remnant, an angel beating its wings in a vacuum. As a lover of lost and hopeless causes I sympathise but that they cannot to continue to hippity hop about , like re-animated Dodos making an anachronistic spectacle of themselves.

More Rimbeau Less Rambo ?

With feral youth’ running the streets and the old being treated like cattle , with an fresh outbreak of sleaze as the ID contracts ate handed out to Accenture placemen ; with the independence white paper sounding the starting gun for the end of the Union naturally this morning finds me in a frivolous mood . I was struck by the lively phrase Celia Walden used for the describing the French attitude to the Sarkozy jogging infamy . They have called for more Rimbeau and less Rambo. ...She further reports that 4000 men last year had their man boobs removed ...4000!
The suggestion n is that there is something rather effeminate about a man caring too much about the tone of his abs. He should be defined by what he is not the way he appears .,.... you mean he looks pretty tall standing on his wallet ?
Good news for me this because since being mown down by an unlicensed driver in Brixton my cycling has been on hold with the inevitable result that the skeletal fragility of my heroin chic frame has plumped up to about 14 and a bit stone ( big bit actually ) .I was never Twiggy really. I played a lot of rugby at one time and I `d say my fighting weight is about 12 and a half stone mostly in the thighs . Armani hangs of me like a sausage skin .
The time I have saved from exercising, I have devoted to improving reading and so I am today fatter in the middle but some what less fat headed. I was wondering if this was a swap the ladies would appreciate. Not if the straw poll I have just conducted in the office is to be believed . Oooo no they say we like `em firm and taught and tight and mean and hard and with buttocks like two shiny ballbearings unyielding to the touch . Its not looking good for the faux intellectual then ....

Women are odd aren’t they , why do they have to be thinner then men would prefer and do they really want s to play their silly game with them .One look at the horror that is Amy Winehouse reminds me that I prefer and have always preferred a woman with a little extra in the boot .Marilyn Monroe at size 16 would do nicely .What J Lo did for the bottom I am going to do for the gut . Its sag is evidence of a relaxed sensual appreciation of the good things in life , talk , sex music and food . I do believe someone once put that rather better...

“If music be the food of love, play on; give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, the appetite may sicken and so die. ”Bet Shakespeare had better things to do than “tone .up”

Heathrow-stock

Oh what a lot of fun the new-agers are having at Heath-stock
“Flanked by Heathrow Airport on one side and west London's outer suburbs on the other, this is an unlikely setting for an impromptu eco-village. Environmental campaigners have assembled here not just to oppose a third runway for the airport. With their compost toilets, wind turbines and leaderless command structure, they are also keen to demonstrate that an alternative, more sustainable way of living is possible. “( BBC)
So what do they want to do they want us to do , return to the age of the wood fire and bodkin ? Do we increase the cost of Air travel, limiting foreign adventures to the middle-classes and taking us back to the 60s when it was seriously suggested that the poor should not have access to cars ( New Statesman). Or are they saying we should all live on local produce. Well there are problems here

EXAMPLE1Lamb raised in New Zealand and transported 11,000 miles causes 688 Kg of carbon emissions per tonne . Domestic lamb causes 2849 kg ( such is the difference in the efficiency)

EXAMPLE 2 Roses transported from the Netherlands to Britain cases 35,000, kg of carbon emissions per 12,000 stems . If we import from Kenya however the comparable figure is 600kg because of the manual nature of the farming .

Bring on that Green runway then...

Most so called alternative technologies only work if most people do not use them. Medieval sanitation would not last long if we did not have modern hospitals or at least a petrochemical and plastics industry to supply to easy to make bins. Now Bush has joined the Global conference China whose emission will overtake the US by 2009 is unlikely to be allowed a continued exemption . But China’s population live at standards vertiginously beneath Western ones and they will rightly argue that per person they are going to remain a long way behind the West as a polluter. How does a "leaderless" commune help sort this out then ?
By reducing international trade we are certainly harming the economies of the poor. How many of them are prepared to accept that the world has risks whichever way you look at it and Nuclear power is the least hazardous way forward ? Do they seriously think that if we returned agrarian communal life that would help anything...

Complex questions, even if you accept the global warning scares at face value .
While they are fantasising about a new Biblical Eden others will have to deal with the difficult reality

Lord Haw Haw Rules The Airwaves

Over the weekend the Redwood - deadwood study was trailed. There are plans endorsed by Boy King David to cut red tape, and in effect offer tax cuts to small business.Allow me to shoot down the usual Labour rebuff, that more small business than ever are starting. Two factors are at work , firstly the vanity companies that IT allow to pop up like mushrooms. More importantly the obstacles to a small to medium company 'employing' have shifted the work force into a consultancy and self employed basis . In other words most of the supposed 600,000 new companies are hobbies or erstwhile employees now cast adrift. There will be plenty of support for deregulation not, however , if it is presented by the BBC as a dangerous lurch to the right as it was over the weekend.

This brings me to the subject of BBC bias which is not necessarily against the Conservative Party. Pro Europeans like Heseltine and Clarke were given great prominence for example on that debate .No,the agenda is centre left Liberal and at times this clashes with the Labour Party as it did over the Iraq war . Generally it is against the Conservative Party though and , not very mysteriously, favours central government provision of amongst other things ...television. Coo ! There was a terrific post on the Dale thread which summed up some of the Piccaso-esque distortions of the BBc mental world

The BBC have moved on ( From panning Redwood )

”They are now leading with the story that 150 protesters have turned up near Heathrow, pitched tents and intend to protest and "hold workshops" all week about Runway 3.If the BNP had turned up at Heathrow to protest about the immigration that comes through Heathrow, would the BBC give them top billing?Instead the BBC have given a heads up - there's a free camp this week to every crusty, swamp dweller in the land. They've even helped by showing a location on a map where the camp is.”

Some of us will recall the utter ignorance that we were kept in about the Countryside alliance march .News of the introduction of AIDS from African immigration was actively suppressed by the BBC . The myth that promiscuous teenagers and condoms were the main focus went unquestioned until massive resources had been wasted . The clearest example is the EU where exhaustive research has been undertaken. The Minotaur study on the pro and anti EU statements and interviews over five years shows a two to one pro EU ratio. It is also ,and perhaps mor importantly ,what they do not say . Where is the investigation into systematic lying on immigration figures, where is the investigation into the exaggerated claims of the environmental lobby? If the BBC had to earn a living it is unlikely these hot topics would be so neglected.
As David Cameron starts to firm up his position we will see how even moderate right opinion must cast its seed into a land poisoned to it by the state broadcasting company. I need hardly say what the 'British' Broadcasting Company thinks of 'English' Nationalism
