National Nuclear Day In Iran

I was just reading Croydonians magnificent spot on the nascent nuclear capability of the Congo. Frightening but fairly long term. The immediate concern is the prospect of a Nuclear Iran.
It was, “National Nuclear Day” a few days ago and we can dismiss the idea that their capabilities are for peaceful purposes as childish immediately . The recent kidnap shows how little Iran cares about international Law ,( whatever that is ) . I`m-a dinner-jacket will ,moreover, have been encouraged to believe that we are a decadent country of foppish bleeding hearts that would welcome the prospect of being annihilated for the crimes of the British Empire . At the very least they are more than welcome to kidnap our people with impunity.

If Iran`s claims that they are enriching Uranium on an industrial scale are true then they will have enough material for a bomb in 2009.This is a country where chants of “ Death to Israel” and “Death To America” count as dinner party chit chat so the prospect of nukes makes me go a little sweaty. In fact if someone were to take my ipod I might have to cry myself to sleep . It is just possible that the Iran are lying but we cannot put it all down to Arab jibber jabber . Even if Tehran is not as advanced as it claims to be they may still have the sufficiency between 2010 and 2015 so its about time we stopped prattling on about fat genes and Kate Middleton and started thinking about how to stay alive. More to the point its time that the world did the same .

The UN is an illusory power that cannot act in this case because of the interest of Russia and China . No meaningful sanctions have been deployed and that leaves Europe and America. As we well know Europe cannot sort out its own back yard without the US and ourselves to do the work, so militarily we will be reliant of the US who pasty faced Liberals sit in bistros abusing all day. The shock news is that Europe might be able to do something useful. As Iran relies on EU trade and that is backed with an export guarantee scheme it would be a simple matter to bring them to there knees. None of this would be any good without rights of inspection and we can all foresee the Liberals bleating on about the warmongering yanks and the Oil conspiracy ..or the Protocols of Zion or whatever it takes traitorously assist the enemies of the country. In their self flagellating perversions have admittedly been greatly assisted by the myriad mistakes of the recent past. Perverse they nonetheless are

The West needs to get its fight face back on and quick. Tehran believes we are weak and their appetite for inspection brinkmanship will be ravenous come the day .Steadfastness of purpose will be required and cowards cannot be tolerated .
It is so important that the fools on the left are reminded daily of the moral redundancy of their position. To those who said Iraq was an illegal war I say this . Why did you not actually campaign for the reinstatement of Sadaam. “Free the genocidal one” would have been a super slogan.. Can they not see that they are imperilling us all with their show boat self indulgence?

I hope the EU surprises me and acts with military despatch on serious sanctions but I will not be overwhelmed with astonishment if it all comes down to Our friends America and our own magnificent troops in the end .

The Persians get quite huffy if you call them Arabs.

We're doomed - I don't feel that Europe will do any such thing and for our lack of influence we can blame Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell. As Raedwald so convincingly put it both America and Britain are exhausted militarily and morally (go to his blog for a full explanation).

Damn that Raedwald he trumps me at every turn !!

Funnily enough, I had a letter from Defra today about a new Committee on Radioactive Waste Management that the govt is setting up, they want members to apply. I'm not sure whether to or not, I'm not sure I have all the skills required. But I do have common sense, what do you think?

Electro-Kevin said...

Well I put all my radioctive waste in the green caddy.

STUFF THE COUNCIL !

Electro-Kevin said...

Do we all think Ellee has common sense ?

(Is that what you were asking us, Ellee ?)

When this happens Mr N - mutants will rule the world-I would start buying someknow if I were you-coincidentally I have somefor sale...

I think Ellee has absolutely no common sense whatever!

I hug my radioacticve waste in the hope it turns me into a super hero.

Ellee...most of the time you are famously sensible but every now and then you go crazy ..so I`ve been told.In the case or Iran`s Nuclear programme I don`t think its the waste we have to worry about

Newmania said...

Mut ...you do wonder don`t you. Ellee is balanced and fair and always nice and reasonable. perhaps one day she will just crack !

I'd love to be there when it happens, N.

I personally think a little 'Heavy Warfare' isn't necessarily a bad thing. Look what it did for Johnny Jap, he turned out some dam fine cameras and motorcycles after a little radiation therapy.

NewMan sounds a bit like a superhero, doesn't it?

Sounds more like a feminist myth to me C

I didnt find the Raedwald post - not that I blame you... I have enough enemies as it is after the parody on Ms Minx....

Newmania said...

Good point ratty ,but he remained a cruel and reptilian goblin so radiation doesn`t cure absolutely everything

I should have explained more. I wrote a post about nuclear waste to say how the government was ignoring expert advice and listening to uneducated forum groups instead after several leading experts walked out - and I am talking about highly regarded worldwide experts. So I went along to one of these forums in East Anglia and saw for myself what happened, I travelled a considerable distance to be a particpant, over 2 hours drive. I was asked to give my views on whether nuclear waste should be disposed of in space, in the sea, in the ground, etc. And basically, I know nothing about this, so how could I be expected to give an answer? How can any ordinary person do so?

As a result, I'm on their mailing list, hence the letter today as an interested party. I do believe there is a future for us with nuclear power, that it provides 80% of France's electricity without any problems, but we have have no idea about how to deal with nuclear waste, the fact that it can be radioactive for hundreds of years. I think increased nuclear power will be inevitable.

So now Defra is firming up on its nuclear power and wants a committee to tackle this subject, hence the letter, but I'm no expert, I hope they find the right people.

I have just located my original post from a year ago when I first wrote about the disposal of radioactive waste, and you can read the story from Magnus Linklater in The Times which set me on my mission, it's really fascinating stuff:

I would think the Iranians are some way off of inter-continental capability.

Suitcase nukes ? Pah ! Londoners would would respond with typical Cockney stoicism.

Would we see Ken Livingstone responding like Rudy Giuliani ?

yI can't understand why British people are so shockedabout the recent shooting in Virginia. Have they quickly forgotten about those shooting, stabbing and killing in London the past weeks? At least the victims in Virginia are innocent people. In London the victims are scums and the killers are also scums !

Newmania said...

I `m not shocked about shootings in Virginia ,

I posted on US ground forces exhaustion on 4th April; Gen Scales kindly wrote a piece for the Washington Times on 9th April that agreed with me - http://tinyurl.com/2mzvhz (smirk)

I did point out though that US Air Force and Navy assets were robust and intact; they can bomb the heck out of Iran, but can't occupy it. There are two major problems with that; the Iranians have hidden their bomb making kit in the middle of mountains with 1,000 feet of rock above them and bombing will invariably cause hundreds of innocent civilian casualties with all the corpses waved around on Al Jazeera, fuelling world hatred for the US. Secondly, it would lose the hearts and minds of the large, liberal Iranian middle class who want the theocratic regime and the ayatollahs out, but would lock together in national unity if attacked by the West.

It's a no-win situation for the US. Don't imagine that ANY european country will raise a finger to help - their forces are so pussified, ineffective and bumbling that a couple of dozen Iranian Revolutionary guards could probably invade Germany inside a weekend. And have the Hun converted to Islam within three months...

Thats the bit that bothers me R I feel there is some hope here and it only makes the whole thing more dispiriting.
