I am trying to make links work as words as well failed so far - if you find out let me know... Nice house I think - I love the way they claim you have improved it. Do they now about the painted over pentacles and magical symbols in the font bedroom?

Newmania said...

Many sins have indeed been painted over but not that one .

Will Izmania become Wasmania?? Just wondered...

Good solid NORMAL house Mr N. You must be quite pleased you decided against both the stone cladding and painting the brickwork in Dulux gloss in the end.

For a question, hows about

Does the panel agree with Frank Field when he wrote "Mainstream Britain has to be thankful that the BNP has yet to throw up a leader of even modest political skills."?

[Field writing in the Mail in August 2006]

Newmania said...

I just editred the post R and now I`m wondering what I wrote . Why mention the BNP ?

Newmania said...

wre you thinking of Nick Griffin ?

C thats very kind and I have finally achieved mastery

Anonymous said...

Mr mania, ask Maude - if we are doing so damned well, why can't we find a remotely plausible candidate to whup Ken?

(your goodself excused, knowing that you'll be a bit busy stripping floorboards, well-maintaining gardens etc come election-time)

PS are you coming to live in Croydon?

PPS are you blogging in company time again?

Raedwald said...

uhm, you wrote nothing in connection with the suggested question - just that the BNP are likely to have made even more electoral gains by then and a BNP question has a very good chance of being picked. Harman and Field had a big cat fight in 2006 about this topic, so mention of Field would get a good dig in.

Oh OK forget it ... I'll get my coat

Newmania said...

Well R just for one delicious moment it occurred to me that you might have made a mistake. If you did its a tremendous recovery at the back of the court .

Yes I am Nick and thanks thats a good one

Newmania said...

Oh right La Harman as well keep.

Thought house prices in that area of N4 averaged about £700,000k? Found a new house yet? We'll all miss you - can we visit and stay over in BN1? I'll give you a tour of all the pubs and break you in gently...

What to ask Maude? When can we expect Nick Clegg to join us?

Newmania said...

By N4 standards we are modest little hobbits Justin .

I will be staying in touch though.

I saw a fab 3-bed coutry residence in the Bellylaugh on sat, about £535,000 but it may be a hell of acommute to work. I get good vibes about the property markey in Kent.

Quis: How about should we back off from bugging Iran? or words to that effect.

I want to think up a good quis on finances and cash for honours and funding and all that and this children and family think tank and what an expensive exercise but what use when they won't actually change anything NuLab has done oh and lots of things, but.... good questions, hmnnn.

Croydonian said...

So if you flee the jurisdiction, will you be able to come up with another blog name that sounds like a disease?

Newmania said...

Iran is not really my strong suit P. Yes I agree Kent is very cheap for what you get.

Not gone yet C

question for Frances Maude or Nick Clegg

Votes for women is always a tricky one for them. Or perhaps why do the English not deserve their own parliament?

Newmania said...

Thanks for that ratty I might have a go at the second one. Or perhaps it occurrs to me at the increasing class barriers to poltics

Old BE said...

I hope your house is filled with someone with half your calibre - or will you take your blog with you?

:-)

Newmania said...

I will of course pop it on my back Ed..good bad or otherwise. Its me

Anonymous said...

Class barriers in politics? Sounds interesting. Can you elaborate?

Newmania said...

Not now P but George Waldens book New Elites is good and Maude gets a mention as old style nepotism. is he or DC well placed to lead an egalitarian and meritocratic country ?

No

I don't think being rich and well-schooled is a bar to being a good PM, but having a wide mix of advisers is a good idea. The trouble starts when all the people in charge are from the same background and experience - whichever background that is.

At the moment we (the great nation) are run by a bunch of party hacks who have never had a career outside politics. The Tories shouldn't make the same mistake - and with people like Bailey and Hands etc. in parliament and hopefully in government next time we should have a good range of opinion and experience with which to bring England back from the brink!

Phew that was hard work. It's hot.

I have no idea who those people are! Sorry, I am just a dumb American...can't help!

Ah, we are near neighbours Mr N. Sometime I must summon up the energy to stroll over the hill and see how the lower classes live ;>P

Thats excatly my feeling about it Ed. I like David Cameron but he needs a better balance around him.
I have no problem whatsoever with DC . He may be from a different background to me but I feel I do not feel alienated and he impressesme more and more

While I'm here:
As Mr Hinchcliffe regularly leaves his spoor on these threads perhaps he might be kind enough to enquire, with his party political hat on of course, why Her Majesties Metropolitan Constabulary saw fit to close the North Circular for 14 hours on Saturday? OK we know there was a fatal accident and we know that there are questions about a police pursuit but was it of overwhelming necessity for the area to descend into chaos whilst the boys in blue dotted the 'i's' & crossed the 't's' on their accident report. My conversation with one of Enfield's finest at 1pm elicited the response that "We are carrying out investigations and interviewing witnesses and that will take as long as it takes. We do not consider the inconvenience to the public to be a factor in when the road should be re-opened."

Newmania said...

Lawks I `m all of a doo dah when the "quality " vist, GBBF.

You are very welcome .I don`t give out an email address because I don`t know how to set a seperate one up do you know Justin and David Allen nearby ?

Remember, you have to wear a bright coloured shirt so they can call out "the man in the yellow shirt". Let us know in advance so we can see you. They do give you a nice tea as well, from memory. I was surprised how tall and dashing David Dimbleby was, he has a lovely smile and a great way of interacting. You'll be impressed by the whole evening, the warm up question, and the warm up to the warm up question - mine was, has anyone here never told a lie - no hands went up!

The questions have to be based on the news that day, or that week, so it's a bit early to be thinking about them. I suspect the Labour leadership will be at the top, Harry going off to Iraq, terrorism...is that some food for thought?

Nice house, btw,

Newmania said...

Aaaw Ellee I almost hate to tell you 'Any questions ' is the Radio Four programme they are recording it at my brothers school..Question Time you are obviosuly an expert at and i would love to go n that . one day no doubtStill what you say about the news must be rightand i gather you can hang around and meet the guests which I will do

Newmania said...

GBBF how can that possibly be our fault ? I will pass on your remarks though

Anonymous said...

Hey silly me, but I do enjoy that show too. I'm sure Question Time said it was filming in London this week, and I thought you had applied and been successful. Just check out their website if you want to go along, but you may have missed the boat for this week.

Are you taking the roadkill with you?

Apologies mr n if my little rant led to misinterpretation.
My gripe is with the way the lads in the chequered caps seem increasingly unbothered by the grief they cause the general public when 'in the course of their duties'. Saturday's experience of trying to get an explanation and that I was put in touch with a 'spokesman' only by implying I was a journalist reinforces the impression that one is only tolerated if one has some 'clout'.

Oh, and in answer to your question, I note with regret that I number no caviaphiles amongst my acquaintances.

Newmania said...

What is a cavia phile ?

GBBF I did the same thing and wrote to Brixton police claiming to be a DT Journo doing a series aboiut the Police . I did work ..sounds ridiculous I know but it did

Re, North Circular Rd - haven't a clue!

Anonymous said...

Kev - yes it was a joke.

N - I will be listening out for you nonetheless. If they start handing bits of foliage around, you're in the wrong venue.
