Why are the Polls Narrowing ? Hopi has his theory and I have mine...
His
believe this increasing awareness of a looming Choice, plus the sense that the recession could have been much, much worse, and we’re not out of it yet, is what is leading the polls to narrow,
Mine
Yes Hopi at some unconscious level people know that your narrative trouvé is deeply right , natch.Get a grip . The recession could not have been much worse and had we not overspent it could and should have been a lot better . Gordon Brown was quick off the mark guaranteeing the banks with Public money , course he was , he only delayed three week s to recover from the painful priapic symptoms the chance gave him.Its less mysterious than that
1 The Government always closes the lead as the election gets closer and the scrutiny falls on the opposition
2 Gordon Brown has engineered a boom to coincide with election .People have pots of cash due to low interest rates and have not internalised what paying it back is going to be like
3 In uncertain times people tend to stick with what they know . They see the headlines” Help” , they feels the “Not too bad” , they think , “ Could be worse”4 Any of the 8,000,000 who work for the state who might have defected will remember where their bread is buttered as will all the subsidised sectors
This was always going to be Brown’s strategy and it is working . I can only hope that a memory of houses made of sweets and what they import lurks at as unconscious level . I trust that in the voting booth the deep knowledge that I am right will re-assert itself

Polls moving back a bit today.
Maybe Hopi will be proved wrong in May.
Not that he'd accept that he was wrong.
We would be wrong for making a bad choice..
Yes I was cheered by that BQ and by the Euro mob backing Conservative calls for fiscal sanity.
Hopi is never never never wrong ( know the feeling :) )
Yes only today I thought that the economic fate of the country was the most important thing on which to vote, so I'm voting Lib Dem.
The Party who want savage cuts , no cuts and no tax cuts ?
Why not vote Easter Bunny?
The way my vote is going, like a leaf in the wind, that's a good suggestion, Newms. I love chocolate.

Like a long lonely stream
I keep runnin' towards a dream
Movin' on, with Cameron
Like a branch on a tree
I keep reachin' to be free
Movin' on, with Cameron.
We've cracked it, Newms, the tide's turned. I can feel it and hear it everywhere. As long as we continue working at the pace we are now - and you betya, yes we can and yes we will! - we are going to beat those b*stards out of our lives for a generation.
It is only one step from state control to state tyranny.
We need more liberty.
