The middle classes are the paupers these days. The little we do earn gets taxed to pay for flatscreens for the workshy, while the manual workers, plumbers, road painters and city bankers live very nicely thankyou!
Its the Victorian operiod upseide down Ed
How do you work that out? There was a huge divide between rich and poor in Victorian Britain. Manufacturing was booming and those in work lived in conditions you wouldn't keep a dog in Paul. There was no welfare State and if you hadn't a job you tended towards starvation and death.
Thank the Lord for progress.
Now if you work you get nothing but if you sit around doing nothing you grow fat and are tended to like a prize Pekinenese. The Prize Pekinese use to be the scurvy capitalist now the leisured classes live from them.
sigh...how I would love to stop working every hour god sends and do a degree ! sadly my tax burden is such that I cannot afford that sort of leisure...where does it all go eh ....
Actually the main problem is that it's difficult to transfer between the two states. If I gave up working the State would put two fingers up at me but if my neighbour who doesn't work wants to she can't either because she is stuck on benefits.
It's basically a polarised system. I don't object to plumbers and line painters getting paid for the skilled job they do but I do object to paying a good chunk of my hard-earned to people who have never had a job.
Thats 5500,000 of working age Ed and 1 in 4 houses with no working member.
WE are all little charities . Look at it this way the first half of the days crappy work you do is handed directly to other people
Thanks Paul, much obliged only can you stop blogging when you should be working - we need a holiday :-)
ha ha ...( I am working actually .. you should see out new web iste it will give you some odwea of the limitless tedium )
Yes and everything else in Mail Group newspapers is true as well!
Newms -
No doubt you've heard by now that both Deborah Kerr and Joey Bishop have died in the last few days. Surely somewhere in there is a joke about the actress and the Bishop. How about it?
Shame on you Lud for you have just made the joke
Very good it is too..I didn`t think of it
