Ian Dale was right

Some of us recall vividly how the mighty warriors squared up . The sun was glinting on their bronze plumed helmets , the serried ranks of Hoplites bucking land baying in their rage but it would all rest on these two ....at the end of the duel one would be bloodied in the boiling dust another triumphant and carried aloft by history. On the side of Conservatism , sense and honesty Iain Dale , on the side of perfidy and Mephistophelean sophistry Aunties director of News Helen Boaden . It appeared the mighty Dale had fallen when ...

“ Helen Boaden issued a partial apology but denied a suggestion by Dale that the coverage had begin with the words “ The Labour Party has today criticised ..” by giving a list of examples to demolish his flimsy case....

The cheering multitudes were astonished, how could this be, it certainly felt as if Redwood was the subject of a BBC( paid by taxes) hate campaign ? Boaden held the shield of Dale aloft to accept the acclaim of the beeb drones but behind her Dale stirred ( or will later today ) crept up behind her and ran her through.. Dale is victorious Boaden an unrecognisable mangle of limbs and shards of metal ...here is why.......

Private Eye reports today that the examples she picked DID contain Labour Party criticism in the first twenty seconds .

BBC ONE-news 24 Labour says its evidence that the Tory right had taken over the agenda

Radio 4 8. AM- Labour says its evidence the right has regained control of the Tory agenda

Radio2..11AM-Labour says its evidence those on the right are back in control of the Toru agenda

BBC News website – Labour claims the proposals show the party is lurching back to the right in the face of disappointing Polls “

Five Live 11. AM Labour has condemned the latest review of Policy carried out by the Conservatives as a lurch back to the right wing of the Party

Have plate of this and eat it up Boaden you lying fraud . You are persoanlly and instituionally prejudiced .You constantly campaign against the Conservative Party and it is quite obviously motivated by survival instinct mixed with the class bias of your left wing intake .We should not be paying for this rubbish and if it was a mistake, then the standards of journalism involved are woeful. In common with everyone else in the states propaganda bureau you are a Labour voter, you have betrayed your prejudice, and you should resign...I have read your list of accolades and all I can say is.. "Don`t preen when gongs are clearly handed out like smarties to the child with the best plasticine model!" That you lied to cover up your inadequacies demonstrates that you agree with me

I SAID EAT IT !!!

First in.
Yes, yet again the BBC have been rumbled.Of course,Helen Boaden is just part of the problem. This all-consuming leftist orienation has been going on for years. Earlier reports have said the same thing, but nothing gets done about it. at the BBC,we have endless criticism of the US and President Bush and anything else that doesn't fit in with the prevailing leftist bent. Euroskeptics are attacked at every opportunity. The EU is good. The Conservative Party is a dangerous, proto-fascist cabal. We also have the BBC's anti-Israel bias reflected by its slanted reporting on Palestininian matters.
Of course, the BBC is institutionally biased. It recruits predominantly from the left-leaning liberal arts degree educated middle class. How many in the BBC read anything other than the Guardian while feeling self-righteous as they sip their fairtrade skinny lattes looking down on the rest of the world? Surrounded by identikit similarly opinionated people, prejudices are reinforced rather than questioned. But the arts world is full of such people. Small wonder that Celebrities like Geldof and Bono get far too much coverage. Shami Chrakrabarti is 'consulted' on every topic by BBC News.
Why is anyone surprised?
The politically correct 'correcting' themselves? I, for one, won't be holding my breath.

Have youb read Robin Aitken`s book on it Stan there is a fascinating section about the connections between Guardian Newstatesman and left leaning journos and the BBC. The number that go on to work for the government is amazing .

Well worth buying short on waffle and full of fact

This brings us back to ruthlessness again: in mirror-image circumstances the 1995 NuLab mob would have hammered Boaden into the ground. She'd have received a visitation from Mandleson that would have left her reaching with broken fingers for clean underwear.

Are we just too nice for this game - gentlemen against players ?

That is so true Nick and iain Dale aside who is doing the job ...I have a feeling they do not want to be at war with the BBC

If the Euro question was not out there, I would actually be hoping that Labour stay in for another ten years - just so they can screw the country up so badly once that they will never ever get back into power and we can give a Francis Urquhart-type figure a free run at rebuilding the nation.

Unfortunately time is running out and our government is run by people who hate us so much they will do anything to destroy the country before the Tories get back in.

Labour must not win the next election or all is lost.

I firmly believe so, please see Ken v Boris for one small example.

The Labour party knows that the winner of any contest is the one who slings the most mud. They don't care if democracy itself is damaged in the process, in fact that is a beneficial side effect for them.

Ed I think ken has over done it with the compass efforts though. he shot his bolt to early and too obviously at our expense

Ed I feel that way...I `m glad its not just me

Exactly, Ed. Time is running out.
Perhaps, we need a UK version of Fox news to serve as a corrective to BBC bias. That would balance things out a bit.
Nick Drew, you're not a journo, by any chance? You seem well-acquainted with Mandy's modus operandi...just wondering.
I'm not going to play Nostradamus but I will say this....
Everyone who contributes to the internet is in someway helping sound the inevitable death knell for the BBC. Programming will increasingly be aggregated by internet providers and the consumer will be free to select his own schedule and pay a reasonably low fee for daily, weekly or monthly viewing. Who will want to pay a fascistic license fee then?

Thanks for that image, N. I thought Ken and Sting both read the tantric manuals - sure I read that somewhere.

And thanks for sharing ED the metaphor was drawn from cross bows.

The BBC have wider problems . TO justify a licence fee they have to have popular programming which immediately means we are being taxed to pay for commercially viable entertainment. As a model it really only made sense in the early days .

What on earth is Cameron doing staying out of this fray? Since nothing he can do will get his party a fair shake from the Biased BC, why not go on the attack, what's to lose? Put it in the manifesto that the licence fee will be scrapped and the Beeb sold to the highest bidder, lock stock & barrel. Fear & revulsion will sweep the board as it will become clear that "they don't like it up'em. Get some policies in that will promise a difference Dave, for goodness sake.

As you say, it is a curious position the Beeb are in, isn't it? If they programme for maximum ratings in order to justify the License Tax, they are accused of dumbing down and are not providing anything the commercial channels cannot.

On the other hand, if they programme non-mainstream, non-mainstream stuff in order to justify the License Tax, then they are accused of being elitist and out of touch.

I think, though, that the conservatives could use this to their advantage. Imagine they pledged to abolish the License Tax. Most emphatically not to privatise the Beeb or to shut it down, but simply to end the License Tax and to fund it by subscription.

The Conservatives, if they played it correctly, could instantly become virtually bomb-proof. Any and all criticism from the BBC could be immediately countered with, "But of course you would say that. We're ending your guaranteed income stream and you're having a snit."

Voila.

45- We tried all that i think cameron probably had no idea quyite how difficult it is to get a fair hearing but he has play the ball as it is and antagonising the BBC send the wrong message..
remeber I am in some ways quite a right wing Conservative alot of this is a matter of tactios rather than belief

Stan - nope, but I once had an office in 4 Millbank, where the Beeb & others have their Westminster studios, and NuLab had a pied-à-terre.

One fine day, on the Beeb landing, I saw Mandy gather a little cluster of hacks & hackettes around him, and in his softest, most menacing tones told them that if x or y ever happened again, he would ensure they never worked in the media for as long as they lived.

Then he broke their fingers, one by one.

(Well that last bit may not be quite true, but I bet they all needed clean shreddies nonetheless)

And then there was last night's Newsnit interview with David Cameron. The BBC turned against Labour for a while over Iraq, but now they're back onside. And they're the national broadcaster? What a tragedy.

Newmania said...

Its not so much pro Labour is it as what they see as progressive. Europe is the touchstone where demonstrable bias has been consistent although it isn`t really a Party issue .

They are dead against ID cards for exmample
