http://hatfieldgirl.blogspot.com/ THIS IS FASCINATING
I am all agog. Hatfield Girl has long been one of my favourite contributors both on Croydonian , Dale and who knows where else here posts have been marvellous at times. She seemed forbiddingly high brow but definitely, or so I thought,” one of us”. Having thought of her as a thought provoking original thinker from the right who wrote with tremendous authority and good humour ,imagine my horror then when I read the below on her new Blog
“It is striking that many of the most thoughtful and caring of blogs, deeply concerned with social and economic distress, and cultural loss, and with imaginative and effective suggestions on what is to be done in the face of the unhappiness of society, are from those who state that they are 'right of centre'.
The disabling of our constitution and the destruction of all kinds of true rights and freedoms also shook me as I read what is enacted, and what is planned by the current government. Again, the salient protests were coming from the 'right of centre' bloggers.
Yet I am not right of centre.”
I am not right of centre…….. eeeeek ,and yet she has drifted undetected amongst us . What is this ? It appears I have given my heart, metaphorically, speaking to an impostor , someone who for all I know might be a …Liberal of some sort or worse, if there is anything worse. I for one will be fascinated to see what HG comes up with now .Is she an apologist for the “Third Way” nonsense or is she a Conservative who is yet to realise it ….thus far there are a few clues but anyone as committed to honest enquiry as she is must be worth reading .
PS
Oh I will be back with my sorry efforts soon maybe twice a week with some gags thrown in to fill the gaps . Nothing high brow here

She's probably like me, N. Where is the 'center' now ? The greatest swindle of our time has been to draw the Tories into fighting for left-wing territory so that the outcome of elections always results in a continuation of the social Marxist programme.
I know what your mean EK but I would not say she was like you exactly..or me.She has done some brilliant things in the past
Oh - I got that wrong then. I wouldn't say I've done 'brilliant things in the past' - some bloody stupid things actually and continue to do so, I thought I'd have grown out of it. I'm hoping they find a 'stooopid' gene like the have the 'fat' gene so I can say to people "Look ! I told you so - I really couldn't help it."
Appologies to Hatfield Girl.
Thats not what I meant Kev but very funny anyway
( I bet I can match you cock up for cock up though)
Just goes to show you should be careful about making assumptions, eh?
Mind you, I tend to assume anyone posting chez moi has a broadly similar world view to me. Still, intelligent debate is always welcome, isn't it?
Hi C excellent to see you back again hope all is well.
In a reincarnation, would you come back, Iznewmania, as Genghis, Karl M or Patricia Hewitt?
Welcome back on Fri 13th, and methinks you give your heart too easily.
Not really Ellee HG is superb I was justhoping somone would gop and have alook
Hi James I`m thinking GK is the boy for me endless women and storming down the steppes on a half wild pony.I `ll have some of that thanks ..although I `ll probably come back as a Sumo wrestlers Jock Strap really .
I `m not a lucky felow
One of the French presidential hopefuls wants to come back as a duck. Yes, really. I'd settle for someone who has an easy life, frankly.
I `m staggered you were able to resist the fund of French tags you no doubt would be able to wittily apply here C ..at the drop of a chapeau
"The disabling of our constitution and the destruction of all kinds of true rights and freedoms also shook me as I read what is enacted, and what is planned by the current government."
Has the poor woman been asleep?
For leftist read towards communism which means everyone not in charge is equal - they have NO rights and freedoms. Not even free speech. It's happening here folks; cultural marxism is upon us, but we can still blog. My Mum told me recently of a case where a boy told his friend that he; his friend, was gay. His friend was a bit upset about it and told his mum, who called the police, who went round and cautioned the other boy. The other boys mum is a magistrate and is going to sue, ha!
Phillipa I have MISSED YOU !!!! Actually HG is rather brilliant and has been a star about the place for while . She has a somewhat scholarly but unique gift and she is also loaded with charm. I think you would love her ,,,although this leftiness bears watching.
You story is fantastic when are you back down in London I `m dying to see you in jeans :)
XXXXXX
( I like her)
Yeah missed you too - and no newspaper, internet or TV for a week!!! I didn't think I'd last but it was good after a while; the sun shone, all that.
I hit Jaeger pretty hard though so have some jeans that neeeed to be seen :-) What better outing than meeting up, I'll email.
HG? Well, well (groan) she does seem to write well, I'll give you that, must look at her blog as seems good. Shame about her politics though. The most intelligent people can be dumb as a brick - they get caught up in ideology and miss the bleedin obvious. Or is that love??
Actually it was two weeks - doesn't time fly when you're washing and cleaning. Do women ever really have a holiday (ellee?) and if you met a man whose wife did neither, had no children and didn't work, wouldn't you ask him 'er.. what is she for?'
Phillipa, I had a "real" holiday last year as we went on a cruise and I had no cooking or laundry to do at all, a one-off luxury treat, but nothing is planned so far this year, except my week in Norfolk.
Ellee - It sounds lovely, hope you get to go again soon :-)
Or perhaps we could get a job on a broadsheet travel section - you write and I'll take the pictures, as long as they pay. Knowing our luck they'll send Ginger Spice plus private staff to report on travelling as a single mother (first class to Honalulu) and for us fund a two-man tent holiday in Skegness under the title 'Best of British' - Norfolk sounds idyllic by comparison.
I spent a week at Butlins in Skegness recently.
It was really shit...
...except for David Copperfield who is one of the funniest most talented entertainers I have ever seen. His version of Pavarotti Nisan Dorma (spelling ?) had everyone moved to tears.
Noooo ! Not the magician, silly. The third one out of Three of a Kind (Tracy Ullman, Lenny Henry).
My family live in Lincolnshire - it's too flat and featureless for my liking.
Lincolnshire is also full of tight-wads and I don't think they've heard of mayonaise yet, it's fry-up chips or roast tatties 'n' thatsherlot.
Some very nice people have never voted conservative Mr N...
Some very nice people have regretted voting Labour and can't imagine themselves doing so again.
I did once. In 1997. Will you ever speak to me again? What with that and my filthy mouth?
I also did Lillith but for somewhat defeated reasons and a rule that I never abstain.
I am trying to be better at getting on with people with whom I disagree . I `m afraid its not a talent I have in spades, it always seems to me that if i just wag my finger abit harder they will see how wrong they are
Kev I remember a great descricption if a really boring anecdote
" Its like a walk in LIncolnshire , you can always see where you are going but it seems to take forever to get there"
Well I like it anyway
Phillipa HG isn`t dumb ( Not by a long shot) and her heart is very much in the right place on every issue so far. I must admit I do enjoy your gleeful invective though . Am I going soft ? Hope not but there are already too many people that dislike me for blasting off at them , I `m trying ot be a bit more ....Oh whats the point its just not me .I`m trying to be nice,......
Yes I would love to see you !!!
I shall read all this with interest NMr N!!
Phillipa, I'm up for a challenge. As long as I am with good company, I'll try anything, - well, almost.
As long as I am with good company, I'll try anything, - well, almost.
Intruiging Ellee.....amenable to a wide variety of interpretations none of which I shall explain now.
Snicker
Paul, they're after you...

Newmania, I was referring to Phillipa's challenge:
"Or perhaps we could get a job on a broadsheet travel section - you write and I'll take the pictures, etc"
I know Ellee just teasing
