Carrying On An Honourable Tradition

This week's phone-in row isn't the first time that Blue Peter has been accused of hoodwinking its young viewers. Back in 1962, there was consternation when the show's dog, Petra, died after just one appearance on the programme. Not wishing to upset its young audience, the show's producers duly scoured the nation for a lookalike and subsequently introduced a mongrel doppelganger as the original.

The shameful BBC start conning us early don`t they

I've often wondered if I was being wound up on this. I was a crap copper - so trusting of people you see.

Nooo !

It must be true then - footballers never lie.

My friend (a driver for Eurostar) says it woz 'im wot dunnit. I am such a sucker !

Was it done more than once ?

Kids up and down the country were laughing their nuts off when it happened weren't they ? The more solemn the presenters got the funnier it was.

My husband once had to look after one of the Blue Peter cats when it came to Ely to open a garden fete, only it ran off and they had a real scare, but did manage to find it. This was one of the tales told by the best man at our wedding to describe the exciting life my husband once led before he met me.

Off to the kitchen now, a woman's place and all that, before I head off to a PR meeting.

Newmania, how can you hope to be banned in China if you "don't do Russia"?

I know Ellee I have tried to give the false impression of knowing a lot but its only by steering clear of the vast swamps of ignorance on every side.

I `m pretty useless once you cross the channel if the truth be told
