Grain Of Sand

A comment I made elsewhere

I was intrigued by the grain of sand that started the Arab landslide . For anyone who does not knI was intrigued by the grain of sand that started the Arab landslide . For anyone who does not know its started with a woman slapping a man in public . Faida Hamdy was a 45 year old unmarried Tunisian police officers daughter, herself a Police Inspector. She slapped Mohamed Bouzizi as she confiscated his property .
The young man was unable to accept the injustice and humiliation which, as a Muslim man was something he was prepared to die in protest against . From his subsequent act of martyrdom the street protests spread from his family through the region.
Who knows what further tidal wave may crash over the world if Saudi kicks of and Oil prices tip the inverted debt pyramid we are teetering on, over.
It reminded me of the single event of the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand by the Bosnian Nationlalist Gavrilo Princips . From that act much of the misery of the 20th century followed.
With women increasingly dominating university places , and feminised values outlawing men in the West there are some reverberations for us in this act of outrage. Female board room quotas, all women short lists for constituencies and so on. What will Harriet Harman and Lynn Feathstone leave for men who do not want to be slightly hairier women .
Otherwise I just thought it was strange how so much can come from one slap and one man who would not put up with it.ow its started with a woman slapping a man in public .
