Of KGB Suits and Satirical Moonbats

Phil Jones, top climate boffin at East Anglia Uni, has been rumbled good and proper .Leaked e-mails show that he, and colleagues, recommended statistical “tricks” to hide cooling ,deleting data rather than handing them to climate sceptics, and more . George ,( the moonbat) , Montbiot has wept crocodile tears of remorse, but laughed off wider concerns with reference to a ‘hilariously’ unlikely conspiracy .
Its a straw man of course . A contemporary conspiracy can be diffuse, and united only by inchoate ideals. I am sure we can all think of one, first name Al .The e-mails only confirm what has been alleged for years certainly over the entire period of the UN linked IPCC *

On the 5th of Nov 2006 Christopher Monckton, published a detailed survey of the techniques used by the UN to misrepresent warming data . He also quoted David Demming ,a geoscientist at the University of Oklahoma, whose tale is oddly familiar : "..They thought I was one of them, someone who would pervert science in the service of social and political causes. One of them let his guard down. A major person working in the area of climate change and global warming sent me an astonishing email that said: 'We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period.' " Its well worth reading in full and Monkton appears to be vindicated .I remain agnostic on the subject but it is worth reminding ourselves of how Power and science can interact .
Trophim Lysenko created a fictional Marxist Genetics and dominated Soviet Science for two decades. His importance lay in explaining famine and loss of productivity resulting from collectivisation in the early 1930s. In 1940 he became director of the Institute of Genetics within the USSR's Academy of Sciences, . Scientific dissent to his anti-Mendelian doctrine was formally outlawed in 1948 and few opposing geneticists escaped Stalin`s period with the lives . Nicolai Semyonov, the Soviet Nobel Laureate , looked back on this terrible period with sorrow ... “ There is nothing more dangerous than blind passion in science . Given the support of someone in power it can lead to the suppression of true science …”
Its no good giggling Georgie . You are to satire what the KGB were to tailoring anyway ,and right now , it’s just a bit scary .
