Back To the 70s

Over on the nest of lefty treachery Compass Gavin Hayes ( General Secretary of Compass )is claiming that Unions telling the Government what to do is not a return to the 70s

“Talk of going back to the 70s does not bode well for an informed and intelligent debate “.....
The Unions now supply 90 % of Labour cash although the tax payer ends up with the bill in the form of a“Modernisation grant” . Most people are not unionised ( only 18% are ) and with unemployment rocketing in the wealth creating part of the economy( not unionised Public sector layabouts ), cannot afford a parasite Labour client state .
Many will be staggered that after all the fuss about Spelman`s nanny ten years ago or poor Wendy Alexander’s minuscule crime, we are invited to view to one interest group openly bartering for Policies with equanimity Oldies but goldies like secondary picketing are getting a digitally enhanced re release i
t is far past time the collective union thumb was removed from the nations jugular .
I submit that asnyone who votes for Brown after the deal he has , no doubt, had to do needs his head examined for bat infestation.

Stagflation , Union muscle and an old tired Labour PM who missed his chance . Oil crisis, Billy Idol Touring ..( on fine form actually ) Abba at the Cinema why fight it ? Just get in a Ford Cortina looking like Dave Hill out of Slade, eat arctic roll, crinkly chips and fondue then wash it down with a bottle of Blue Nun. We are back in the 70s man

Anything but Blue Nun (apart from the ghost of Ted Heath attempting a comeback).

Otherwise I rather enjoyed the 70's.Perhaps being in my teens had something to do with it.

A long, long time ago
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.

But I knew if I had my chance
To stop the 70s in advance
Then maybe I'd be happy for a while.

Oh, the 70s made me shiver
With every policy Jim delivered
Bad news on the door step
I couldn't take one more step

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about the widowed brides
But I remember how the bodies lied
The day the 'lectric died

So, Bye, bye Labour's big lie!
Drove my Chevy for a bevvy
But the pubs were all dry, while
Sonny Jim was drinkin' whiskey 'n' rye
And singin': crisis, what crisis - oh fie!.
It's all a media lie!

Do you believe in rock 'n' roll?
Can music save your mortal soul?
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?
Then kiss the 70s goodbye
And Sunny Jim's and union lies
And the year the music died.

On the streets was one big argument
In the Winter of our Discontent
The year our 'lectric died

Food shortages and power cuts
Streets filled with rubbish, hospitals shut
And bodies piling up in mortuaries

Lennon read a book on Marx
Union blocades closed our parks
And we sang dirges in the dark
The year, the country died.

You did not just write that did you Flo ? That is brilliant

I liked
"Took Lord Levy for a Bevy but the coffers were dry...."

Where did I read that in the 70s the government got into such a *pickle* that they had differing levels of import duty on cheeses depending on whether they were "posh" or not.

That would not go down well in 2008.
