Iain Dale Deserves Better

Iain Dale Deserves Better
I do not always agree 100 % with Iain Dale and his collumns sometime fall short of inspired ( We need less bureaucrats ........yup). But he is deservedly acknowledged as the best blog for commentary and opinion and a touchstone for me and countless others . So what are the qualities that make him the Jungle VIP.Firstly a naturally clean and accessible prose style and an encyclopaedic knowledge of Politicians , journalists and their world , but more than this, it is reliability and balance . With Dale you are in safe hands. You know his position, and beyond that everything is in proportion. He is the opposite of the Time Out film reviews who might send you to some god awful baloney because the reviewer was obsessed with Polish Super Realism. He has no infatuations and well.......everything you want from a effortlessly modern Conservtive . You trust him, people trust him . People would vote for him
As a Politician his ability to handle the media experience and mentat powers of concentration would be a huge help to the Conservative Party nationally. Lets not imagine that we have a full slate of outstanding candidates . Good lord no ,dull mediocrities are everywhere, and we desperately need such an outstandingly talented chap in the right position to help the Party and the country.
I felt extremely angry therefore to see that Maidstone have , it appears , given him hardly a hearing . If they had better candidates , I would be staggered , and it can only be the usual self important jealousy that infest Commitees everywhere .These people , whoever they are, have done us all a disservice, and it would be nice, as they grumble together over G and T`s ,if someone would mention to them what a dead weight they are for the rest of us to carry.
I would be happy to

You have to hand it to Iain for announcing it and then allowing sundry vermin to post obviously sarcastic comments. Aren't socialists nice people?

Ah Newmania, the sad ring of truth.

There's a type isn't there? The joining type, the commitee type, the one who always reads the lesson busybody who can't enunciate for toffee and mumbles the 'praise be to god' with a small 'g' like an afterthought. The polite never-upset-people sort who bullies oh so sweetly and self effacingly.

No, I'm not one of them either. Iain was obviously a 'no' before the interview.

You guys are absolutely right. There's almost a case for positive discrimination for selections. Would all-cunt shortlists have help him?

It will be MOST interesting to see whom they do select.

anon ? Why would a cunt apply to be a PPC for the Conservative Party when he could go straight to the top of the Labour Party on that qualification alone

LBS ...that occurred to me....

Is Dale on the A-list? If he is, that would encourage the committee to reject him. I read somewhere that no A-listers have been selected because Associations reject any attempt to have someone imposed on them.

Is this true?

I hope not Ed. I must say people i have met over the years have not been so petty

Morning NM. I think Iain would be a great MP, but I can see why he might not appeal to a selection committee for a number of fairly self-evident reasons.

Some might say that would be a good reason for CCO to have more, not less say over local selections (but how many local associations would be prepared to admit that they are not actually the best people to select future MPs?)

I have been involved in two local Parties and they are not evident to me if i take your meaning correctly . ,..perhaps I was lucky

Incidentally Mensana I have a huge file,of snippets on the NHS but I fimd it exceedingly diffuclt to get to grips with the entire beast. Can you recommend a good book to give you a brisk overview ?

( If you look in)

N I have just read the eminent Mr Piper's blog and I'm inclined to agree with him. There surely is no correlation between being gay and wanting a career!

Well I was talking to gay x and Y the other night and they were saying they moved from Brighton , which is gay central , because it was full of gay men who obsessed about their success .We are all in our 40s and their might be a difference of perspective ? It seemed plausible , I really don`t know , I have no special view on it and it hardly matters anyway , just popped into my head.
So what ?

I do not intend to guard against the possible convictions in the court of political correctness as presided over by whatever bumptious little creep is snooping around trying to score cheap points in a non existent game , like the disappointingly tedious Piper.

If thats what he enjoys he will get plenty more chances. Can`t stand that sort of thing. They are all such grovellers aren`t they. Miss miss! ..guess what he said !

Anyway I `m off ; Happy Christmas Ed I have dispatched the doctrinal crimes ,fast response unit and I hope to see you re-configured shortly

Cheerio

Well I have no doubt that a selection committee (maybe even if I was on it) would look at Iain and say that they would be concerned when selecting a local MP that a) he didn't do well in his last election and b) he may devote too much time to his media activities and not enough to his constituency. Add a bit of latent homophobia and it will make it difficult for him to be selected. Selection committees by their nature do not tend to see the bigger picture, which is a shame.

I must say I would like to see some seats in the commons and/or lords chosen from a party list to allow CCO to get those it wants into government without needing to try and strongarm associations into selecting their favourites.

I don't think there is a good book on the NHS-if there was it would make pretty boring reading!
