'The Sunni Side Of Tikrit '

'The Sunni Side Of Tikrit ' ,was an article in the Spectator about progress in Iraq which , like a recent Prospect article argues that all is nothing like as gloomy as we have been told .
I just loved the title though. The other version is that Iraq is like the weather in Manchester . Occasionally Sunni but usually Shiite

I was horrified to see that children’s books are being bowdlerised of Health and Safety sensitive material , by terrified Publishers .So says children’s writer and illustrator Lindsey Gardiner. I think I would complain about the outrageous misinformation fed to unsuspecting young minds more than the incipient hazard danger of a Dragon cooking marshmallows . In Harry Potter`s adventures Ginger haired people are consistently shown as having two friends and sometimes more . Magical alternative realities I will accept , but that is stretching plausibility beyond breaking point.

PS I see that even Saintly Mr.Cassilis is featuring a gag. He has a story that a father Christmas in Australia has been reprimended for using the phrase Ho Ho Ho as potentially insulting to women . Ha ha ha has been suggested as a replacemnent.

Whatever next? You'll be telling us soon that Oliver! is to be scrapped as it depicts violence, that The Famous Five didn't really exist and that Where's Wally? is politically incorrect.

newmania...i equate stories about how wonderful things are in other countries with the same weight i view statistical information...everything can be slanted for a purpose...it's seeing through the bs that makes us different from well "the others"

Funnily enough if you think about it a lot of Dickens is about child abuse as it would now be called . In fact I would say the child is the central idea in lots of ways .

The famous five is now the Gang of Four, girlist Anne having been deleted from the records despite the lies of counter Georgeist agitators.

Be good
