Counting migration





The ONS is less than frank about the contribution of migration to future population growth. Its recent Press release said that 47%of the projected population increase over the next ten years would come from net migration . This is correct as far as it goes but you have to go through a series of footnotes to discover hat the inclusion of migrants children brings that up to 70% in 2031 and 90% in 2051. This is a crucial element of any serious debate .
