Happy Valentines Day I Don`t Think
Saint Valentine was apprehended and dragged before the Prefect of Rome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off. He suffered martyrdom on the 14th day of February, about the year 270.….
Hmmm, perhaps there is more resonance for men in this Valentines day thing than I had thought. Seriously ,men have become sulky load of Primates picking their ears disconsolately behind a jungle shrub and the interweb is populated by more than its share of embittered divorced males. Lets try to be understanding just for once. Oh go on…
Some things never change , Jackie Collins advised Posh on her Hollywood adventure as follows ”I don’t think you can leave men in this town on their own. I really don’t . Not more than a day or two at the most”. There we go then ,problem one ;men aren’t changing . The fauxmosexual new man is a myth, and when it isn’t, its only because he has his own despicable agenda. That men remain as despicable as ever is evidenced by a recent survey on attitudes to internet pornography. Seventy five percent of men responded that it was natural outlet they needed for their excessive and unsatisfied desires, whereas ,two thirds of women pronounced themselves variously shocked , unhappy and so on….
Poor deluded things, but not only is the new man a myth but so is the new woman. For all you read about women juggling career baby ,man and a tarte fine aux pommes for tea ,the truth is this .The average woman will vacuum 7300 miles in her lifetime whereas the average man clocks up a feeble 850 miles . In other words life simply doesn’t do what it says on the tin ,for women .
No clearer evidence of this can be found than in the bizarre obsession women have with their bodies Tessa Jowell , never one to jump on a vacuous band wagon has “Joined forces” with ”Fashion leaders” to launch a crusade against size zero models . Meanwhile Ann Nicole Smith whose shape, in its day , was the cause of much male salivation , dies , apparently, of excessive boob jobs. What are we to make of women`s determination to become vastly thinner than men would prefer ? Is it some crazed competition they have amongst themselves or are they just unhappy . They have good reason to be .
Women remain seriously under-represented in senior positions ,often being sidelined to the ,“Mummy career track” They are 10% of the senior judiciary 14 % of Local authority leaders and only 17% of editors of national newspapers. Thanks to determined reverse discrimination , and political convenience, they are currently 20% of MP`s but the calibre of the Blair babes was so low as to set the cause of women’s rights back for decades . My hopes are not high for Priti Patel`s and Joanne Cash`s either . Both seem to be yes-women,a phrase soon to have wide currency. Anyway the figures are slipping and we are currently below the level of Rwanda , Iraq and Afghanistan.
Perhaps we men should give the girls a go at being hunter gatherer ,and do the cave paintings and berries for a bit .No I `m sorry but that won’t work , women hate it. Lauren Booth confessed in the Mail that there are great problems for the 21 percent of couples where the woman earns more than the man ( Government stats ..seems high to me ). Her husband will be picking out a valentine present and she will be worrying about how much it costs her. He has to ask for more money when he runs out and faces a variety of humiliations one might not foresee . In many cases the wife loses respect for the husband who feels emasculated and sex disappears Guess what, women resent the fact they have to do all the work .Welcome to the club girls .
Inevitably men are ceasing to want to get married , there is less and less in it for them. In December last year the number of single women outnumbered married spouses for the first time. The decline in a marriage , says the centre for policy studies, has serious implications for children and women.
“ ..parents moving in and out of relationships ..A lot of women in the forties and fifties will be living alone ..with all sorts of emotional and financial implications” . while agonisingly modish females may go “Blonde with grief “,about their failed relationships, there is a vast well of unhappiness for ordinary , lonely middle aged ,“spinsters” ,stuck in low grade jobs or , more likely nowadays , on benefits.”
The CSA has further alienated men whose sense of ill treatment is such that the law cannot operate . It costs 70p for them to acquire every pound they eventually get, and there is an outstanding £3.5 billion uncollected since 1993. With divorce courts blaming the man ,be his wife the scarlet whore of Babylon, men simply do not believe they owe anyone anything .
So its tough for women. They have got most of things they said they wanted ,and now they find noone wants them .The stark truth is that if a mans IQ rises by 16 points his his chances of marrying rise by 35% if a woman’s IQ rise as much, her chances slump by the same amount. Women, you see ,are not happy , generally with men that are lower achievers than them . As they are now 57% of University entrants and rising , there simply aren’t enough Alpha’s to go around. Forty percent of women born in 1970 are likely to enter their forties childless .Brutal isn’t it.
Most ordinary Eves fail to reach the mirage they glimpse shimmering in the magazine pages, and those who do find its just more sand when they get there.
So even for the “To posh to push” ,caesarean having , double degreeing, career achieving supergirls, life is not that great after all.
Happy Valentines girls …I`d go out buy yourself something nice if I were you! You deserve it and noone else is going to bother …probably.

Your Fired - C.S
they made me do it - PC
Fuck that gave me a heart attack. Yes I am out of bed now it is 4.30PM !
See you tommorow
Yeeeesh....
that one was for Mrs. N.
I congratulate you though on meshing such a number of different reports into one coherent story.
A ring of truth in some parts, nonesense in others; much like the source material.
You need to attend some consciousness raising sessions. Just ask your local council.
Mmmm are you castigating me for unoriginality CU. I only have access to the same stuff as everyone else I`m afraid.
I can see I am going to have to be more careful in the future
...and now you can be fired for sending a Valentine's card at work.
Not that I'd want to because all of my colleagues are butch, tattooed and hairy arsed.(Including the blokes)
There is a chap I know who is a train driver for Virgin at Euston - he was called Collin Brown when he was at Eurostar (Mr Blobby because he was so ugly). Now he wears a full lady driver's uniform, stockings, red lippy the lot. 'Her' name is now Rachel Ventura Brown. He looks more fetching as a woman, I'll give him that. I still wouldn't send him a card though.
He was shunting locos in the yard at Wembley one night accompanied by the shunter. It came to the end of the shift and the loco was to be 'screwed down' which means that the handbrake is applied by turning a hefty wheel in the cab. Rachel did this by 'herself' with the shunter watching - when 'she' had finished 'she' said to the shunter testily "If you had been a gentleman you would have done that for me." to which the shunter said "And if you had been a lady I would have done."
I used to know a chap called Simon Hunter. S. Hunter and he was called shunter. Thta rather out me off the story.
tyou`ve lead a ,ahem ,colourful life haven`t you K
Actually CU looking back that is "sourced" from the DT , the Mail , the Mirror and the Standard..and a bit from the Guardian.
Now thats a lot more effort than an Iain Dale puts in.Still, you may have a point
Newmania - yes I have had a colourful life, a bit like a toned down version of Forest Gump. You would not believe the half of it if I told you. Much of it comes from working in London in key organisations, squads etc.
Rachel Ventura Brown is verifiable (ask any Virgin driver at Euston)
"Inevitably men are ceasing to want to get married , there is less and less in it for them."
Is this your first marriage? I think deep down you are a big softie. My friend runs a dating agency and she believes both sexes are totally unrealistic in their expectations because nobody is perfect, yet this is what people expect.
Don't tell me you haven't bought a card or flowers for the long suffering Mrs N...
P.S. Actually, what I really think about Valentine's is that while it is always nice to be treated special on some occassions (it's not special if it happens too often), it's what happens the rest of the year that is important, the way you make a person feel.
Flowers on a Wednesday - never fails to impress....
To late and this is my second marriage...any connection ?Hope not
You are quite right though Ellee ,I am a huge softy but I couldn`t get to the shops today I have been in a state ...hence no doubt the lack of inspiration in this post
The meeja tends to hark back, via statistics, to some golden age of marriage. I don't think much has changed in that 'yesterday', unhappy women had to stay put and do as they were told. They were sleeping with the landlord in that women were unable to get a mortgage or rental agreement without a man. Nowadays they can leave marital misery. But that glorious progress is, inevitably, a double edged sword - now they not only can work but are expected to. Luckily many really want to. But as you identify, they are still expected to do the traditional role as well!
A word about the men in this consideration - in my experience the 'modern man' is just an excuse for him absolving himself of responsibilities. Yup, that would be the 'modern man' I dated. But there are others I see that are just fabulous. Good husbands and fathers; thoughtful, romantic and tender and loving. They may not vacuum the carpets but they have their role and make their wives very very happy. I'm glad to know they exist and only sorry that I obviously wasn't meant to be enjoyed by such a man.
These men are nothing new, they've always been around. But as for internet pornography and embittered divorced males - maybe there would be fewer of them if they treated women as people. If some of the men on the Boris Johnson blog are representative then I'm not surprised they're divorced. What surprises me is that they were ever married in the first place. 30-something and childless has a lot to answer for.
That seems pretty reasonable to me P, I must say I noticed some of the astonishing stuff on the BORIS site. It does appear the there are some very odd people that come out fo the woodwork.
'If some of the men on the Boris Johnson blog are representative then I'm not surprised they're divorced' (Phillipa)
'I must say I noticed some of the astonishing stuff on the BORIS site. It does appear the there are some very odd people that come out fo the woodwork' (newmania)
I hope you two aren't referring to me!
Absolutely Steven I immediately picked you out as dark and troubled.... Ho ho
Nice to see you around , I have looked at your blog often but you seemed to have given up.
No there seem to have been some very "emotional" people on the subject in the past.I don`t like emotions , they are for girls.
Steven_L - good grief no, not you. You've got to admit there's a few 'embittered' males come out the woodwork on the gender wars on the BJ blog recently. The poor moderators have had their work cut out I'm sure. Some of the links have been revolting before being swiftly removed.
well I dread to think what they were like P.
I couldn't look at it but one was apparently a video of a woman hurting a child, to prove that women did that, as part of a rant that all the statistics about child abuse by males was made up by feminists, organised feminists who went around making things up just to bring about the downfall of men. He was divorced. I'm not surprised. Bloody nutter.
All dreadfully sad.
A 'friend' of mine left his wife and children yesturday. His parting shot was to berrate his 9 year-old daughter for ruining the marriage; nonsense of course. What killed it was drink, though he is convinced "my family drove me to drink". A long time coming I hasten, but no doubt he will complain (as so many do) that CSA payments of £200 per month are too much.
His wife is completely undeserving of such torment but is feeling relieved and quite understandably so.
Never quite like Walt Disney painted it.
Yes I do remember that one he was a scary individual.I also had the impression he was drunk
If you want normal visit the blog of "The Hitch"
He doesnt harm women or children and is honest , almost saint like.
He tends to be a bit wary of women who quote Monty Python though, "and not in a nice way"
..almost saint like.
you are asking to burnt or martyred in some disgusting way PHITCH.Perhaps forced to listen to the collected speeches of David Milliband.
That would finish me
As would reading the unutterably dull blog Rachel of North London
..almost saint like.

Inspired by your valentine story my mind has been considering ancient torture methods but "forced to listen to the collected speeches of David Milliband."? Makes my considerations pale in comparison.
Now thats a lot more effort than an Iain Dale puts in.Still, you may have a point
and than mr City puts in - just make stuff up like Guido - no one will notice!
His wife is completely undeserving of such torment but is feeling relieved and quite understandably so.
That sounds very sad K and I hope I wasn`t suggesting that men are blameless. We cannot go back to the days when ther women is stuck with an abusive drunk or risk dying of exposure.
The problem is that its swung to far the other way.
I don't think it's swung too far the other way at all. AT ALL. Ask any divorced woman with children who's completely messed about because of fathers rights and who has to prepare their children to visit their abusing father. No it hasn't swung too far the other way. It's just that in just about every case the government has meddled, it's made a difficult situation even worse. It's easy to get divorced without actually separating. How stupid is that? This government could barely manage a drunken binge in a brewery, and only then if it warned against it in schools.
But in effect P does he not lose the children and the income wheras the woman gains both.
Now not all divorces are the man`s fault but all judgements assume they are to blame
Yikes N - I was being complementary. It is beyond me to write posts longer than a para!
clearly your view of me a cynical the core prevents me from actions such as this. noted!
CUI-You never have to tip toe on eggshells around me . I `m not that type of person. I think you inadvertently ,perhaps , out your finger on something there.
And I don`t think of you as cynical to the core. I would say you were something of an idealist actually , not that I`d know .
A slight digression ...
Is it imperative that 'alpha' males have a university education ?
The chaps around here with a huge amount of social influence, wonga AND laydee appeal are those who are able to do things, ie install central heating systems, build retaining walls and service ships. Y'know the sort - strong, silent and utterly essential. Combined with a little business acumen, social refinement and these chaps are very eligible indeed.
I in no way dispute the value of a good modern degree, a good modern university and nor do I dispute the progress of the best modern women...
...now hold that thought.
Part of the New Labour con is to get everyone a degree whilst, in fact, making them more and more dependant on the State, and as with the prisons sentencing are we any longer comparing like with like ?
What of romance ? Is some of this disatisfaction with each other a lot to do with the fact that what appears to be printed on the packet no longer matches the contents ?
I got those figures/ trends from a Boris Johnson article K. Its not exactly a science is it .
I think we can assume the smell of lots of money is likely to remain an effective cologne and women do always suprise you by running of with the scruffy drummer.Thats why I love them
I appear to have over-analysed again.
Aw shucks !
Actually N the women I know who've divorced ended up paying the husbands.
Comparatively rare overall though P isn`t it and they still get first dibs on the children.
I don`t want to get all mysoginistic about it but once there are children there is a clear power imbalance .If you split , she never has to work and has a family whereas you have nothing .There is a book called the exploited Man or something like that out about the phenomena. Its been in the papers alot
Its one of those things that is easier to moan about than suggest solutions to though.
Sounding a bit patronising there N, and whilst these books come out with convenient examples, the majority in my aquaintance doesn't bear that picture out. The woman doesn't have to work? Almost every woman I know works! And certainly every divorced woman. And she gets first dibs on the children? You mean she has to work and be sole carer and get the offspring ready for Daddy's visit if he can bother to turn up in his new car, if it's convenient for his new girlfriend and they're not enjoying the single life somewhere.
Exploited taxpayer more like N.
I often wonder how the CSA works out that a couple of 'monkeys' a month pays for the upbringing of a couple of 'monkeys' for a month.
(Well you're all from London ain'tcha ?)
That always beats the hell outa me.
.....Phillipa your example assumes a blameless woman and a heartless man. I can only say that among my aquaintance that is not a universal truth. Far from it .
Among my aquaintance that's pretty much de rigueur.
that's pretty much de rigueur.
Perhaps you should move ?
You've been slacking N !
I read today that the MP for Islington North, Jeremy Corbin (your territory ?)put in travel expenses for the year totalling ...wait for it ...
£230 !!!
Shock horror !!! Better get on to this if I were you.
The highest was Falkirk MP Eric Joyce at £44,985.00 (Wonder how many constituents he has there ?)
Things that do not help the sisterhood:
I often work really early shifts and get to be able to pick the kids up from school. Often I do the homework, dinner, bath - blah-de-blah - keep the medal, I'm just a little p****d off at the mo'.
On top of that I give full help with domestic chores - though this curiously isn't reciprocated when my fingers are getting wrecked changing oil filters, spark plugs etc.
It really doesn't help my attitude very much to endure a bollocking for twenty minutes 'cause I gave the cat the wrong food, loaded the dishwasher the wrong way and ...
...forgot to bath the kids for the first time EVER !
I kind of understand why bingo halls are packed with widows - I don't think I'm going to make it to retirement. Because I don't think I bloody WANT to make it to retirement !
(ha ha)
Actually no, that wasn't a joke I could quite happily pop-me-clogs at 60.
Newmania said: 'perhaps you should move?'
Strangely enough I was thinking that very thing myself.
I hear you Kev.Oh lord do ever.
Phillipa well good luck with that we are moving soon as well.
'I have looked at your blog often but you seemed to have given up' (newmania)
I stopped blogging about cricket then started watching it. If I could remember the password I'd delete it.
'The poor moderators have had their work cut out I'm sure.' (philipa)
I often read BJ's blog and think 'poor Melissa'. I mean, having to read every bit of crap people put on there all day, my drunken rants included.
Its nice to see you SL. I haven`t been much interested in Boris`s output of late.He is getting to important to be a commentator I feel.He cannot be open and his articles are suffering. There is the odd gem, but its not what it was.
Your rants were very good especially on foreign policy. you should have a look at my firend Croydonians` blog he is superb on "Foreign". I tend to stop at the channell really.
Look out for Verity though , she can be a bit ferocious . She`s ok so long as you agree with her..
All the best
Verity ferocious? She's a bloody rottweiler.
